Baja book finds

I went to the local used bookstore today, it's called Barts Books, it's in Ojai, I found new to me "Off Beat Baja" by Jim Hunter. Pub 1977, great stories, he traveled in an FJ42 I think. Also I got an old Time Life book" Baja California". This has some good pictures, my wife is an aspiring artist. And finally I got "Adventure Kayaking Baja" by Andromeda Romano-Lax a 1993 book about kayaking around all of Baja, that should be a good read. All for $18.00 USD

Hunter's book was a good one, I met him in Mulege back in the day. I seem to remember he had a Honda 350 (SL350, maybe) with a huge hunk of foam strapped to the seat. I also have that Time Life book and agree that the photos are very nice.

Great details of the roads he covers... He has a Class1-10 catagory of classifications of dirt roads... 10 being the worse... which included parts of the road to Mision Santa Maria!

It was Jim's book that I learned about the copper mine north of La Gringa... I sure wish he would have done a second edition or more... Originally published in 1977...
