customs requirement for dog travel

still yet another episode.....

so heres the problem....someone asks "whats the requirement?" i reply and then theres a plethora of "i didnt need a thing" responses.....what you need at any given time to get through with your pet and whats actually required are usually 2 different things.....

so i was at the westjet counter in vancouver on our way down a couple of weeks ago and there was a very distraught lady with her dog pleading with the ticket agent.....seems her health certificate for the pooch was months old....ie expired..... i asked the agent what the requriement was......he said that it was company policy not to put someone on a flight with known customs defieciencies....makes sense to me.....so if anyones interested, mexico requires a rabies vaccine within 1 year and a current health certificate (ask your vet)......bc requires a current health certificate and a rabies vaccine within 3 years......btw for the parasite thing......a negative test doesnt mean parasite free.....

i usually find that the owners that have all the stuff....have no problems....

oh yeah.....it was that ladys lucky day ;D she owes me a pacifico....

Lucky Her! Have you heard of my Breed

DrTom,
Have you heard of the German Small Munsterlander? It is a Versitile breed. Simon's sire is German and his Dame's parents were both German. He is registered as number 2000 in the NAVHDA.ORG Registry. That means that since this breed has been introduced to the U.S. there are only a few thousand.
I have not been hassled at the border for the health certificate or proof of rabies going either way. However I always have them just in case...
Esteban
P.S. He gives kisses, very good calm house dog and HUNTS LIKE HEL*!!!
