Would you join BAJA NOMADS again....

...if you weren't already a member?

Myself, I have been here "for a while" and have grown used to the now constant attacks, put downs, comments that have nothing to do with any topic and just destroy the flow of whatever thread is available....well, you get the picture.

I have read too many times when new people post how they are "put down" for not searching enough, that they are somehow "stupid" for asking something....and they never seem to post again....wonder why?

Very few times does anyone say "welcome to our group how can I help you"....wouldn't that be nice?

There are other websites that I "READ ONLY" just because I don't want to be part of the mess. I wonder how I would feel if I wasn't already here ....Would I join again?

WOULD YOU?......

Yes------------and new members are ALWAYS greeted with welcome messages unless they introduce themselves here with bashing, or sarcasm. There are those who appear hostile, but this is true with any forum, it seems to me. The anoynimity of the net always brings out those who would be hostile----this has nothing to do with NOMADS, it seem to me.

What a strange question. It never occurs to me that posting here is the equivalent of signing up for something that needs to be evaluated.

Yes, I would join again, without a doubt. For years I simply read the posts on here....getting to "know" some of the people and learning through all the posts. There are definitely some negative folks on here...I've seen some personal attacks on people that I don't understand, but overall I find the people on here to be informative, funny, enlightening and just downright helpful. I'm glad that I'm a Nomad and would certainly join again.

There will always be nay-sayers in any situation. But when you look at the situation, maybe the nay-sayers will not be so important.

....some comments...........(sometimes, regrettably, from me...)..........some by many a long time Nomad member........are sarcastic, snide.........

SNARKY is a term I've heard recently and it is a good description that encompasses a lot of posts......

The search features are tweeky, and I have spent lot of time looking for a certain post. I don't think long-time Nomads should get snarky with newmads because they can't figure out how to work the site.

How many posts have there been about "how to post a picture"?

As I have seen when difficult situations arise, whether from the weather or from a person on the ground needing immediate assistance, the BajaNomad network is a great resource and should not be dismissed.

I believe most folks are just regular folks, whether they be NOB or SOB, 99.9% are willing, able and have already, helped their neighbor.

Welcoming a new member is probably an area that we can improve on. Navigating this site or any online forum site is a learning curve and let's not diss the newmad.

I have to agree with surfer Jim. I am very new at this. I love Baja and use to ask questions, but I was made to sound stupid so I don't ask many questions anymore. I do read the posts quite often but as far as posting, I'm a bit Leary for fear that I do sound foolish. Life is too short to be part of any drama..

A little drama can be fun.

About "asking questions that sound foolish", do you really think there is a motel in baja that charges $400 US per night ?

Sure, I'd join again, if not just for the laughs !!

Yes, no doubt.
Just recently, I had a conversation with a bilingual real estate agent permanent resident in Baja and asked her if she was a nomad. Her answer was "No... I am not but my friend is and he gets ruffled once in a while... the folks in there are pretty aggressive aren't they?"....
Wow. I never thought we had such reputation...I guess we earned it.

IMHO, when you join bajanomad your attitude should be, "here i come, move aside" and not "will you let me in?"

Hearts on your sleeves

I would register just to read the extent of the whining on the board. Helps me feel better about the way I see the world.

All these people wanting to be victims in a country that doesn't adjust to them. Tough noogies - leave and hide in the US where the standards adjust to the lowest level all the time.

Most importantly I would join just to see the pictures of dogs and to read the prattle of the various mental midgets who attack David K.

yes, of course. but despite years of 'membership' I still cringe occasionally when I post knowing that someone/s may attack, take something wrong, fault my spelling, simply misread and overreact, or generally spin off into the ether... and many times when I, and others, post something general, we are jumped all over for not 'spilling our guts' and revealing every little detail...this by people who are simply curious and not really interested (ie price of properties, details of products and services offered, etc etc etc). if they were seriously interested, a simple question or U2U would do.

not in my experience of reading this for years. no wonder many simply disappear...

The people who would say "NO", probably arn't here to read your question. Why would anybody hang around a place they didn't like?

duh!!!!! heck ya...we have made sooooo many lifelong friendships from this site and had alot of fun playing in the nomad sandbox...even with the bullies, over reactors, snotty noses, self righteous, insulting, nasty kids...it's all part of life...waht doesnt kill me makes me stronger...we all are one....the groovy nomads far outweigh the negative ones. We have all had our moments...but I do wish people would be a tad nicer and treat everyone with respect and dignity...(like THAT'S gonna happen )

Oh and by the way...a big ole hearty welcome to any newmads who I forgot to welcome...and a slobbery kiss to all those lurkers out there( be brave comrades and jump into the fray)...you know who you are!!!:cool::rolleyes:;)

Thanks for the welcome and btw, I enjoy reading the posts, snarky or not, and I put in my two cents here and there. I look forward to adding more to the conversations in the future. As far as forums go, I don't think that the Nomads are any more or less aggressive with their posts. I am a member of a "mom" site and you should read the things that those "ladies" write on there!
