Tecate is not a busy entry port... ie. they have more free time to search you. They pulled me over at Tecate and checked my (empty) gas can and opened
and sniffed my (blue) water jug to make sure I wasn't bringing any extra gas INTO Mexico. Now, this could happen at Tijuana as well. But, the drive to
Ensenada will be much easier along the coast on the 4 lane highway. You decide...

Here's my usual
Day 1 Sun Valley, Idaho to Laughlin, Nevada
Day 2 Laughlin to Ensenada (hotel colon $25 per nite, great place)
Day 3 Ensenada to Mulege (hotel mulege $30 per nite, another find)
Day 4 Mulege to La Ventana (breakfast in Loreto and lunch in La Paz)
About a month in La Ventana
On the way back
Either La Ventana to Camachos Camp or San Ignacio (rice and beans)
Next night Ensenada
Then Laguna Beach to see family a couple days
Next night Laguna to Vegas
And home the next day Vegas to Sun Valley

Loreto etc.
CJ, same calle as us, we'll be at 24 Calle Davis.......COOL!
Pescador, all fishing lessons graciously accepted, room for 4 on the Dusky AKA
"Saracuda" after my granddaughter.
Acudoc, will be in Loreto by November 1, you are certainly welcome to have lunch etc. with us....see above address.
To all: will take the Tiajuana route/will take a slow drive down Baja and enjoy this new adventure.

I like Tecate, I do not like the Toll road from TJ.Fast Drivers and no respect!
I would stay in San Quintin,Virginia and I preferred the Los Ciros about a block off the main Road and if you like seafood try the "El Pariaso" on the
west side of the road across from the Pemex.
I would stop in GN the next nite and eat at the Maillimarino. Then to Loreto the next day , you will have good light each day and when you get to your
new digs you will have some time to look around before dark.Skeet/Loreto

Traveling south
And, our house is right off the free road south of Rosarito if you want to check in, have something cold, leave messages, get latest info. etc.
