I am enjoying reading these comments.....seems to be a REALLY dedicated group who are willing to overlook whatever "bad" they may read to be able to enjoy the good....I guess I would be included in the above (just never thought of it that way).

And yes....THE best source of info....both current and historical....available.

Most of the posters so far have been here longer term....I would hope some of the "newer" members will join in also.

Ah! Such sentimentality. Cool. But, Skeet, you never addressed Pack's question.

Jim- No bar to joining. I think the problem right now has more to do with the bad press, the drug war, the economy. For so many years, it was so popular for kids to cross the border for a night of fun. Many of those kids grew up to feel curious about what lay South of TJ and Revolucion. Many eventually ventured farther South. Perhaps they found Ensenada. And perhaps, their curiosity pushed them farther South. Unfortunately, such is not the case right now. I fear that Baja is going to lose a generation of potential visitors. That saddens me.

Today we spoke with an insurance agent recommended by Pescador who sounds like he can help tremendously with our current stressful health insurance application woes. We wouldn't have found him on our own, and the difference will have a great impact on our retirement finances and quality of life- no exaggeration.

Bob & Susan:
- We used Bob's great attorney referral to help resolve Profepa issues
- We got a deal on an inverter that Bob was selling for a friend.
- I've hit him up with "how to" questions, and my husband with solar/technical
stuff the past few years and he's a great resource and all around nice guy.

Russ: - We've been trying to get an environmental impact study done for nearly
5 yrs and have watched thousands of $$ go down the drain and were
led astray by several professionals. We're currently working with a
dynamo inginiero recommended by Russ who is getting the job done
and is one of the nicest guys around who we will most likely remain
friends with. Another invaluable referral by a nomad.

Morgaine7, Longlegsinlapaz, and oldlady: Our favorite ladies of La Paz who are
some of the best friends we've never met in person! Always generous
with their time to answer questions and provide guidance on a variety
of moving, building, and living in Mexico topics. Nice, smart, and funny
they are. We get to meet them in the near future.

I hesitate to go on because i don't want to leave anyone out who has also responded to u2u's and emails with advice and suggestions. There are many.

Then there's a list of folks we'd hope to meet someday and who will give us an excuse to visit places that otherwise would not have been on our radar: Paula & Don Alley, vandenburg, shari & Juan, Baja Gringo, for example.

Or maybe Bay of LA to see if soulpatch or Paulina & Dern are there. Go stargazing with Astrobaja, or bump into Mexitron while camping and pick his brain about plants, or catch Bajajudy taking a stroll at the estero.

We would have enjoyed Baja without a Baja Nomad, but it has definitely enriched the experience, so my answer is "yes".

Aw, you had to go and ruin it. Remember what they say, you can choose your friends, but you can't choose your family.

Anyway, I'm here because I don't have anything better to do, so sure, I'd do it again. On the other hand, maybe I should try therapy like George.

Aww! This is giving me that warm fuzzy feeling. I'd join all over again. OK, enough warm and fuzzy, back to off topic and posts from a couple people that never make me feel that way.

Nomad is what is and we keep coming back. The friends I have made here are priceless; those who I have been fortunate to meet in person and all of you I am still looking forward to meet.

Yes, I would still join...

To much to do before the Thanksgobbler feast.

So, this may be a redundant comment, but someone on the news today who is supposed to be an accredited media commentator (skepticism on my part, not sarcasm) stated that Oprah became a billionaire because her show created uplifting moments.

This makes sense to me.

Cheers and uplifting moments to all you Nomads,
