Do you think those cute kids make the connection between the "pretty" birds and the drumsticks bound to be on their plates Thursday?

LOL
I bet they would not eat the meat if they understood where it came from.

Our little ones, 18 mo. to 3 years, don't get it. We sing our Thanksgiving songs and chants, some of them we substitute the word chicken for turkey, but it doesn't really make a difference. If they understood they were eating a"Turkey" they would think the same thing about eating chickens, or cows, pigs or fish. I don't really believe that recognition comes along until much later.

In the 28 years I've been teaching little people I've never had a child that came to me with that question.

Our school goes to 8th grade. I didn't hear anything from the other teachers in regards to negative reactions from their children. Perhaps a few of them might think about asking their moms for tof-urkey instead, I don't know. Maybe I'll hear about it after the holiday.

"Big Guy" does have some meaty drumsticks, that's for certain.
