Having just read this entire thread, I am having a Kum-bayaa moment right now. Whay shouldn't I, after all, I am a fire-breathing liberal.

This forum is the best. I've tried other forums and they just don't have the same esprit de corps that this one has.

This forum constantly blows me away with the depth of knowledge that so many Nomads have on every subject ever brought up. Believe it or not, there are some really high IQs floating around this forum (then there's the rest of us).

I have been dumped on and I have been a dumper as well.

I have uproariously bursted out in abrupt laughter at some of the funniest things that I have ever seen in print.

I have gotten all my questions answered here. Can't say that about anything or anywhere else I have been.

On this forum, you have to be well adjusted to really get what it has to offer. Be thick skinned, have a sense of humor, don't take yourself too seriously or you will go down in flames, be robust, contribute your posts and responses, don't be afraid to get into it with others, admit and apologize when you are wrong, constantly ask yourself if you are "over reacting", take your lumps and discipline yourself to NOT always have the last word, and by all means contribute your knowledge.

No I'm not, Pack, but my shelf life has pretty much expired.
And thanks to you, too, Skeeter old dear.

Outside of a few blowhard know-it-alls, this is a great place. We all have different experiences and opinions. It's great to learn from others as well as to share from our travels. Viva Baja Nomad.

At the moment I'm frowning but I'm still here. Nuff said.

About the chit chat thing...Baja nomad has been a useful and fun tool for many of the folks that have come through here. Many people ask us to please post fishing reports and updates on things here to keep them in the loop and this board is a great way for us all to keep in touch with each other without emailing everybody. We have become somewhat of a family and really enjoy each other's comments, support and just checking in.
What is funny is when a lurker shows up here and recognizes all the spots like the gypsy shed, juanita's kitchen etc and knows all the skinny even before they've been here. It's kind of unfair advantage though as they know lots about us and we know nothing about them!

I may not post much anymore... I visit almost daily just to get my "fix", but I'd join up again. Glad I did in the first place.

It has been interesting to follow this thread---a really strange one. From the beginning, it almost sounds like once someone joins, there is no turning back. It is a forum, not a sentence. And even the things about Baja that some like are not shared by everyone---

Some like the travel to back areas and others want no part of it.

Some want to share the exact directions to everywhere, even the surf locations and others get really upset over that one.

Some want only the information about building and living there, some don't care at all about that

Some love it as a place to promote their businesses- free advertising--a real cash cow for some and a smart business move.

Some love the off-road part, and others want no part of it.

It is a good place to promote worthy charitable causes

A place to report to others about natural disasters and then argue about them.

A place to ask about restaurants and hotels, and then watch as there is seldom a consensus---and some are horrified that someone disagreed with them.

A convenient place to yell for help when needed

Some want to think of it as some kind of family---fits their needs. Lots of people are seeking a family through forum memberships.

And of course, a place to see everyone's dogs for all the dog lovers---that seems to creep into most forums, and even here, there are one's who complain about the dogs.

So, there is a lot of useful information, a lot of disagreement, and most is not much different that other forums----this one just happens to be somewhat about different aspects of Baja

----but what causes me to laugh are the posts on this thread that---

1. Want to limit how and what is talked about----to fit their own agenda

2. The posts that name call the posters they do not like because they don't agree with them----they would like to limit the opinions and politics of who joins.

3. The posts that think it is only "others" who get political, off-topic, hurt threads and are bad.

Just a lot of "it is the others" ----but that too, is like other forums----the others are always the problem

Exactly----another one of those, it is the others----always the others---

Thanks for the laugh and the great example of the blame the others post.

Why don't you like all people, Diane? I have tried to be friendly, and you just can't seem to get over the fact that we are different. That is a poor reason to dislike people, isn't it? Come on... stop the hate... life is too short!

Can't all Nomads just agree at least that we love Baja... it's a place to start negotiations afterall!? :light::D

Great summary of reasons why people post here, Diane. A couple more:

1. The baja photos really help the rest of us feel and smell baja when we're not there. A really important contribution.

2. Then there's the Munoz thread. I don't know what category you'd put that soap opera into, but it's one of a kind.

I am very content... and I 'spew' information, positive thoughts, photos of Nomads getting together and having fun together... I am always trying to get us all to get along here... I only request that if some politics or false science is posted, the other side get equal time... that is fair isn't it?

Ah, the turtle thread----that is in the soap opera category---goes on and on and little changes. Then again, it could be in the news debate category as it seems to be entertainment for some and for some, a chance to draw predetermined conclusions and then argue those conclusions without ever listening. Lots of those around, but this one wins a longevity award.

Packoderm---I am guilty---didn't answer the question asked---that is another typical forum thing. Answer, yes.
