And yes, I'm concerned about the stolen truck. I hope it finds itself safely with its rightful owner. It sucks that something so substantial happened
in Gonzaga.

Don't think that would work bonanza bucko. The dealers who are shot would be instantly replaced by other dealers and there is an unlimited supply of
users. Every society that has ever lived has had its intoxicants. The only solution is legalization, which for a variety of reasons, is unlikely to

True! I have stated this many times. We have a war mentality. We are fighting a perpetual and futile "War On Drugs". We have allowed
the Cartels to profit and thrive in our "War On Drugs". They have ruined Mexico.
Drugs support the industry of Law Enforcement too. I am not a user or a seller and do not condone those practices. My take on legalization is a
pragmatic solution. Remove the profit motive which will in turn, curb much of the violence. I support medical marijuana too. It can be controlled
and taxed just like liquor. It is a great benefit for those who suffer pain due to cancer or other maladies.
And I am not against Law Enforcement. I want them to concentrate on real crimes, including drug sellers and users who commit violent acts. Free them
up to go after the real criminals. That is where our tax dollars should go.
Follow me to Off Topic for the continuation of my War rant and it's consequences. It is pretty dark and fatalistic. Obama's speech tomorrow night is
the last straw for me.

Here are 2 e-mails that were forwarded to me about the incident in Gonzaga:
HELLO TROOPS,
We had a little excitement here at Gonzaga Bay. First, it rained, then it hailed!!!
This morning 4 guys tried to steal an airplane from in front of the Cantina. The plane had dogs inside it and they made so much noise that the owners
came out and ran them off. Unknown to us about the airplane, the guys ran down the beach and into our front yard. One claimed to be a policeman and
he said that a car was stuck in the mudd and he needed my truck. He kept saying keys, He was nervous and in a hurry. I told him to go talk to dad in
the back yard. He wanted the keys to my truck. He opened the door and of course the keys were not in it. He told dad again that he needed the
truck. Dad said no, bull chit, at this time I let Katie out to the back yard, they took off. We did not see the gun that this impersonator had. We
immediately jumped in my truck and went to the Catina to see if Antonio or Jaquin needed any help regarding anything and to check out this story. At
that time we found out that they had tried to steal the plane. I got in my truck and started going down the beach to warn others not to give them any
keys. I was too late. They had gone to Jay's and the thief did the same thing saying he was a policeman, This time he showed Jay a gun and wanted
his truck. Jay said no, I will drive you thinking he was a policeman. They got into Jays truck and drove a few houses down and he pointed the gun at
Jay and Jay got out of his truck and gave it to him. His other 3 guys had walked further down the beach and he picked them up.
Joaquin did an outstanding job of notifying the military and coordinating everything. This was very well planned as the guys had a nice truck, money
and had stayed at the hotel the night before. Their mission was to steal the airplane. Their truck was not in camp, so they need to steal a truck to
get away and possibly meet up with the other truck they were driving.
As you can imagine, most of the women freaked out. We are currently in a wait and see mode as military was coming from both San Quintin , Guerrero
Negro, and the Chapala turn in The military at Alfonsinas was searching the local area. Joaquin gave them a full description of both the get away
truck and Jays.................. In a few hours a search will be done to try and find Jay's truck. We think that they will dump it since it is
bright red and easy to spot.
The good news is that Jay was not hurt in anyway. It could have turned out really ugly. There was no way to prevent this as the thieves stayed in
the motel and appeared to be Mexican tourists. This is another sign of the times that the drug dealers are getting more desperate to steal
planes................ My job was to try and keep everybody calm!!!!!!!!

Yes but it was this morning unless there was an addtional armed robbery. Yesterday afternoon a plane landed at Alfonsina's on their way to La Paz to
spend the night because of weather. The attempted armed robbery happened this morning about 7 am the second successful armed robbery happend about
7:30. (The first attempt) Fortunately the pilot had 6 dogs that Antonio would not allow to stay in the Hotel so they had them stay in the plane. We
don't know if there was an atempt last night because of the 6 dog but there certainly was one this morning, while the couple were getting ready to
leave the robbers approached the wife and asked her to get the dogs out of the plane they got a little rough with her and the husband came and
interrupted on her behalf telling them to leave her alone. One of the 5 robbers then showed them his gun and there was a lot of yelling but the wife
wasn't giving it up. She started yelling for help and Juaquin got in his truck as saw it was serious and went to inform the military and Antonio
showed up and chased them away. One of the guys took off in a Toyoda truck booking it down the road leaving behind the other 5 guys. The guys then
started down the beach looking for a vehicle they stopped and the Wills saying they were police officers and that someone had stolen a plane and they
needed transportation. Linda of course said no way then they preceded along the beach and asked several other houses if they had a truck they could
use. I was on my computer watching down the beach and saw 5 guys coming down the beach in a hurry but the one guy that was lagging saw Marilyn and the
walkers on their back porch beach side ( lots of wind) having their morning coffee and he went up and said he was a police officer and that someone
had just stolen a plane showed them his gun and said he needed a ride. Jay said let me get my keys. I saw the police impersonater give the thumbs up
to the other guys down the beach (I don't believe Jay knew the guy wasn't alone) and then he went up to Jay and Marilyns. He got in the truck with
Jay, Jay was thinking he was giving him a ride to his vehicle or the military outpost. The other robbers met up with the truck just between our
house and Sam and Janes they took out the gun and ordered Jay out of the truck and stole it. There has been an ongoing search but no truck. All the
little towns and military have been alerted as well as Coco. They believe they are south bound and there is some thought that one guy has been left
behind. The people with the plane took off I think out of pure panic because shortly after we got lots of hail, lightning and thunder I hope they
made it out safely. So any planes here were not able to search from above. The runways is flooded from yesterdays and todays down pour. We were
suppose to leave today but are waiting until tomorrow! The robbers spent the night at Alfonsina's last night if you can believe that! I feel so bad
for Jay and Marilyn but the events happened so fast and Jay was just trying to be helpful I probably would of done the same thing. But not now! unless
I know exactly who they are I'm keeping my doors locked. The good thing is they didn't keep him and they let him out and no one was injured. So sad
that this is happening down here and I guess it's a good thing that we didn't take off because it would of been about the same time they made their
foolish blundered attempt and since our plane wasn't parked in front of Alfonsina's and out of public view they may have had better luck. I think
that is what made them abort their plan, there were to many people from the holiday weekend coming out of their houses to check out what was happening
along with the guests at the Cantina. We think their getaway got scared and took off because while Monty was walking the dog and listening to the
argument between the airplane owners and the robbers the truck took off faster than he has ever seen one drive on our road alone. It was after that,
that the pilot came up to them and said those guys just tried to steal our plane.. I will update you as the news unfolds. Paula

Sorry to hear about your loss Ken. Meth has destroyed the lives of a couple siblings, and nieces and nephews affected through them. Legalize, control,
tax, and treat. I agree 100%. About the truck. If you drive a druggie desired vehicle in Baja, you need to rig an ignition or fuel cutoff. This has
been covered in at least one other thread that I know of. As far as hijacking(vehicles and aircraft, not threads), I would love to see a 1/4lb of C-4
triggered remotely, once the truck or plane is far enough away!! Do that a few times, and they may reconsider their sources of new transportation
sources! Hope they find the truck soon, or it will never be seen again. Could be black already!

No Igor, that's my youngest son (now 36). The man we lost had a son (now 7 years old) with my oldest daughter. They never married but had an
amicable relationship and shared custody of the boy. Technically he was not my son-in-law but I always considered that he was. This has been a
terrible, tragic experience, hard to say how it's going to affect my grandson who adored his dad.

Oh Ken,
I'm ever so sorry to hear about the death of your son-in-law. My heart goes out to you and to his family, most especially his child.
I so agree with you about the legalization of drugs. How it is that so many do not see this is beyond me, but I think it has to do with folks making
decisions out of fear instead of knowledge.
My prayers are with you and yours during this difficult time.

I feel your pain, Ken.
Losing a dad at 7 is pretty bad. Couldn't have been much worse, actually.
Perhaps you can get him involved in scuba diving. Take him on those weekly trips to Morro Bay. You have a pretty large family by now. If everyone
closes rank it could really help a lot. Mexican families are very good at that kind of support.
I'm glad to hear it wasn't the kid in the picture. Somehow I've become attached to him.

If it was rumored that the nations supply of heroin, cocaine, and meth were tainted with anthrax, I believe 100% that the recreational use would
stop. Simple to me, just stage a hollywood type production at a few clubs in the USA.

I don't think "they" (the users) care if they die---------seems to me that is what "they" are trying to accomplish anyway. So, probably won't work.

So very sorry for your loss Ken. Lost my brother to an overdose and he also left behind a son.
And from family experience, and from working in the prisons, I have seen more than one side of the story---and like you, I believe legalization is the
best answer, and also probably will not happen. And it has not always been illegal.

I am 100% for legalization. I don't care how many people kill their selves, I just don't want them breaking into my house to support their habit. Give
them all they want, the sooner they die the less it will cost society.
