Gabriel House - need contact info.

I'm posting this on the Nomad board as I've forgotten my password for the Punta Banda message board.

I'm in P.B. now and have brought down a large amount of diapers to donate to the Gabriel house. Today is Christmas eve, we will be leaving for Bahia on Sunday morning. I was hoping to be able to get the diapers to them before we leave.

Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas Eve! (We're baking cookies for Santa as I type)

Poor Hector, he needs a new life partner. They are few and far between in Bahia now. I'm thinking Shari might be able to hook him up someday.

No, your letter didn't arrive before we left, but we took care it. No worries there.

That was good trouble you got into there. I'm curious to learn one day how it came out in the end...

Just trying to help. Did you know that 'innuendo' is an Mexican brand of suppository? For real. One of the few products whose name and instructions for use are identical.

Thanks everyone for the leads. Thank you Dennis for posting the message on the PB Board. I got in touch with Renie today, she will get the diapers tomorrow.

She said that they go through over 240 diapers in a 24 hr. period. Amazing. She said that they can use any size as they can cut up smaller ones as well as those that are too large to use on the other children at night.

FYI, if anyone else has access to diapers, they do not need to be in their original packaging as they do for donation stateside.

I only wish I had brought down more.

Does anyone use cloth diapers anymore? They are re-useable and environmentally friendly...

Yes, some people use them. I did with both of my children.

It would be next to impossible to use them in my classroom.

I can only imagine the amount of time/water/soap/propane the folks at Gabriel House would go through to properly wash/sanitize cloth diapers. If they go through over 240 diaper in 24hrs, the amount of cloth diapers they would have to use would be much higher.

That sounds like a lot, ten per hour around the clock, especially for the facility in Maneadero alone. Is Gabriel House an extended program with other facilities? 240 sounds like a combined number.

Cost factor alone, cloth vs disposibles, over a 1 tear period, still seems cloth would be far more practical they can be line dried and over a several year period would more than pay for the time, water, soap & propane costs and be easier on the fragile environment as well as the recession factor where donations are down everywhere.

That's what Renie told me. We change our toddler's diapers every two hours and they are usually wet, so I can see how it could happen. I only have 12 children. I don't know how many children they care for.
