Caught with Drugs at Tecate Crossing headed north

We crossed the border at Tecate coming back to the US yesterday afternoon. The waiting line to the gate was an hour long at 2:00 PM on 12/30/09. When we got there, we were pulled in to secondary for inspection of our dog food.

Ahead of us in secondary was a Mexican American family— a couple with two kids in a big fancy new black pick-up truck with CA plates. The border crossing dog, trained to find both drugs and hidden humans, alerted to the truck. Inspectors found drugs in an amount that indicated "personal use." The driver of the truck had his stash confiscated; he had to pay a fine to the US government at the secondary office; after which the family continued on its merry way into the US.

Interesting.

If it was Mexican officials on a southbound trip, what would 'personal' use amounts cause them to do...?

Having a new, fancy, black pick-up truck with CA plates does not make them American. Your profiling based on predisposition is showing.

Try again!

North America is the northern continent of the Americas, situated in the Earth's northern hemisphere and in the western hemisphere. It is bordered on the north by the Arctic Ocean, on the east by the North Atlantic Ocean, on the southeast by the Caribbean Sea, and on the west by the North Pacific Ocean; South America lies to the southeast. North America covers an area of about 24,709,000 square kilometers (9,540,000 square miles), about 4.8% of the planet's surface or about 16.5% of its land area. As of July 2008, its population was estimated at nearly 529 million people. It is the third-largest continent in area, following Asia and Africa, and the fourth in population after Asia, Africa, and Europe. [Wikipedia]

Personally, I would much rather have more pot heads than conservatives.

I apologize for joining the fray here at nomads, but sometimes the conservative drivel just becomes unbearable.

Karla, using that definition of American, all the people in this hemisphere can have an American passport, get American health care, enjoy American Social Security...Fidel Castro and El Teo are Americans, good thinking.

Personally, I want to be called Canadian Mexican Chilean, by people like you.

Marla"

It does my old heart good to here that you would rather have more Pot heads than Conservatives;

You already have them:
Obama
Clintons'
Shumer
Pelousi
Sheen
Clooney
We Now have "Socialist San Francisco' when it use to be a very good town with Carol Doda doing her thing and the Bohemians on North Beach.

Now even the Sea Lions have left!!
We Conservatives who beleive in "Faith, Hope and Charity"{ Brotherly Love and Truth" pay pour taxes to support the Poor, even those dummies who will not work, are the Salt of the United States of America.

All you have to do is go to a Local Mall and get a Glimpse at some of the 'Rags" walking the Mall, covered with Tattos, Metal sticking out all over, Pants dragging the floor.

Then their is the Elite bunch somking their DOPE as they type on their I Pop, doing something called the TWitter!!

Is there any doubt that the Consevatives like to stay with their own instead of getting close to one of those "DOPE, smoking, Nekid, Ears full of Metal, Liberals, especialy if they were at Ward Churchills Classes at UC.

Damn, had to pay a fine, and lost the pot!! Bummer dude, at least it did not include a trip to jail. Even trying to bring in "personal use amounts" is a very stupid thing to do. :?:

I posted an event we witnessed while crossing at Tecate yesterday. It was a simple observation which we found interesting, adding knowledge to our bank of experiences. I simply stated that which I thought some Baja Nomads might find interesting, as we did.

I made no comments as to politics, liberal or conservative. I am a cultural anthropologist and I know what a Mexican American is; and my first name is Marla spelled with an "M." I do not hide behind a handle when posting.

IT IS A SAD COMMENTARY THAT ONE CANNOT POST ON THIS BOARD without political attack, name calling, and attempts a one-upmanship. We all lose when informative, interesting, and educational information ceases to be posted.

Skeet, it is worse than that... they want to raise taxes on us now for something we don't want and that doesn't start for 4 years!
