Thanks you guys! I did get an email from Linda. And unfortunately, it wasn't Pickle.
At least my message is still spreading. For that, I am thankful.
And it sounds like Happy is in good hands.
I just pray my Pickle is in just as good of care.
Keeping the faith,
Amy

Amy, each time I see that you posted, I hope it is to say that Pickle has been found alive and well. I am keeping up the faith for you! I know how sad and worried I would be if my Coco was out there lost somewhere. Be positive!

Dog Lost in Baja California

http://www.surfline.com/surf-news/letter-of-the-week/dog-los...

January 26, 2010

After living in Cabo/San Jose del Cabo the past 8 years, my husband (an avid surfer) and I decided we needed to move back to San Diego for a job opportunity. This wasn't an easy decision but nonetheless, it had to be done. So we packed up the car with our stuff, as well as our friend's van with our 3 beloved dogs and headed north on January 2nd. Our friend, Paul "DD" Robinson, is a shaper from Idaho and was heading up to get supplies and shape some boards for his friends back in Cabo. On day two (January 3rd), the car that Paul was towing with his van, got a flat tire which caused him to lose control of the cars and roll 2 1/2 times off the side of the road. Thankfully, no one was badly injured (a couple of scrapes and bruises and two totaled cars) but in all the trauma, we could not recover one of our dogs. A witness saw him run across the highway into the desert like a racing dog. But after searching for hours and days, we could not find Pickle. We have been so heartbroken and I feel I have lost a member of our family. It's been over 3 weeks now and I have not heard anything from any of the posts I have made on the various Baja websites or from the flyers that friends and strangers have posted along the area. I feel he is out there somewhere and I am hoping someone on their Baja adventures just might find him.

Here are the details:
The accident was on Highway 1 at km 224 1/2, 55 km north of the Bay of LA turnoff, in the Punta Prieta/Chapala/El Pedregoso/Cataviña area. He was last seen running from the east side across the highway to the west into the desert. But he could be anywhere, including a ranch. I am offering a reward for his return or any information someone might have about him. He is such a sweet dog but I know he is so scared and alone.

Great idea, Gypsy Jan...I added a postscript to my Tecate - Mulege Trip report. No sign of Pickles yet, but hope remains.

Confession - We Are Suckers for Dogs

I just really feel for Amy and her family, just because of a turn (turnover?) of fate.

I continue to root for a happy ending to this story.

Edited for bad sentence construction.

We're crossing at Tecate Weds Feb 3rd. Have a couple of stops to make but will be in the area where Pickle was lost on Friday the 5th. We'll be stopping and looking around for her. Ron and Patty

His name is Pickle. He is a tan lab/great dane mix. He is very friendly, but I'm sure very scared. He was wearing a collar with a tag that had our numbers on it; both U.S. and Mexico. He was last seen by a witness, running west into the desert at km 224 1/2.
The reward is currently $300 usd, but I am willing to do what it takes to get back my sweet boy.

Sorry everyone. It wasn't Pickle :(
It was a very sweet looking, more lab-ish, lighter color, younger dog.

Please keep looking!
This was the first close call I've had.
Positive thinking & momentum!

Thank you, thank you!
