In San Felipe fishing today, lot's of Croakers, Chanos. No rain, some clouds and a light breeze,, Great weather.. may rain tomorrow but not much if any at all.. My plan for now is to travel to Santa Ynez via San Felipe, through Gonzaga and up to SY on Friday.. If the trip is canceled I will just keep going south when I reach 1,,,

Okay Rudy... We are on standby based on weather... We really don't want to camp in mud and rain, and would save the dollars for a dryer trip if it looks questionable.

MoFish can see the hills around the mission from Gonzaga Bay, so his reports are MOST appreciated!!!

I'm still waiting on the consensus based on weather. I may go and backpack it again. Or head for Scammons and then maybe Bahia San Francisquito (never been there).

Gang, BajaCat and I talked by phone at Half Time (SuperBowl) and we will see how the next rain (Wednesday) looks for causing any issues in Baja.

MoFish can see the hills around the mission... which is just 10 miles west of Gonzaga Bay and hopefully can alert us of any rain clouds there before we leave for El Rosario on Friday morning.

If we find the road impassable to the mission (after the heavy rains of 2 weeks ago), there are other points of interest in the region (El Marmol/ El Volcan, San Fernando mission and petroglyphs, Las Pintas Fossil and Petro Grotto, San Juan de Dios...) and we can just stay at Baja Cactus for all three nights... or ?

Sounds Great...

This morning Ensenada forcasts show some showers tomorrow and Wednesday, then sunny the rest of the week through the weekend.

I think it will be fine for the trip...

I did put a request to Ralph at Santa Ynez, (via Elena La Loca any HAM operator, on Fred's board) if he knows the condition of the road being any worse than 'normal'.

Ham Radio contact with Santa Ynez today...

Elena La Loca has an update from Ralph, posted on Fred Metcalf's board, here: http://math.ucr.edu/ftm/bajaPages/MsgBoard/messages/1802.htm...

Another group has gone in and back out since the rain, but didn't stop at Ralph's to tell him if they got all the way to the mission.

Yes! No steps, running boards, or even mud flaps are out of harm on this road!

Sorry but I can't make this trip. I was hoping to get out of the meeting on Friday but my boss said no. After April 1st I'll be retired and won't have to attend anymore meetings. I wish you all the very best. Have a great time.

Slowly, one by one... Bummer on that TW... But, I understand fully! I actually wish I had a job to do... money is tight. Thank goodness a Baja trip is inexpensive...

It started sprinkling this morning (TUE.) in Oceanside... They predicted it would be mostly tonight and Wednesday.
