tecate wait time and peso exchg

Walked into Tecate to pay for the tourist visa. Took 55 minutes at Bancomer. One cashier if you're not a bancomer customer and 6 cashiers if you are. It might have been a little slower today since yesterday was a bank holiday. Exchanged some dollars at a local cambio- exchg 12.57 pesos/dollar. To JKRUK/Jim- sorry I didn't see your u2u and can't figure out how to respond to it. We are crossing tomorrow(Weds) vs today (Tues) ie want to get an early start. We're in a 31ft motorhome without a tow. Ron and Patty

I made the same mistake the very 1st time I crossed at Tecate. s next time go straight across the street from immigration to a small storefront window where you can pay. Total time for immigration 10 min.

So, any word on whether the storefront is still around or is it off to Bancomer as the only option at the Tecate crossing? Thanks.

You gonna eat that?

Don't forget that you still need to stop at the border and get the FM-T stamped at the immigration office even if you buy it in advance!

That's why I never understood the hoopla about getting it in advance. Except if one is expecting to cross on a bank holiday. Going through at SY typically takes us ten minutes total, including walking 40 feet to the bank!

for us a pre-paid FM-T is the answer....don't have to wait in the bank...just park and walk back to migration for the stamp
