BTW...the lake is 90% frozen over, and we now have 4+ feet of snow. And I just loaned my pickup to a new neighbor moving into a rental across the
street. It's a elderly man that is moving in and bringing his mother. His SUV (Ford) broke a timing chain driving up our steep street. The man had
chains, but kept over-revving the motor. My Tacoma is a 4X4, and he should have no problems.

I watched his mother walk up our hill when their car broke during the last storm. I could not stand by when we have four cars in our driveway.

Udo, you also have ACTIVE TRACION CONTROL (A-TRAC) on your FJ Cruiser (as I have on my Tacoma) and it must work awesome in that fresh snow... just
like having lockers front and rear, but without affecting stearing.
I used mine in a couple of feet on the dirt road on Palomar a couple weeks ago... and in Baja... and wish I was going to Mision Santa Maria Saturday,
too!
We are wondering what to do instead... Moab, Disneyland, dunes???

David, we loved Moab and we stayed/camped at Arches National Park... great offroading there. That would be my pick.

DK- Actually neither. Hotter than Hades out there is the summer, and right now, you run the risk of the winter storms. Best times out there are
April-June and September-November.

Thanks... yah, we just talked about ideas at lunch... and I think we will stick around beautiful San Diego... we have the zoo, Wild Animal Park, Sea
World, the train museum in Campo, the Midway aircraft carrier museum, and Disneyland is only an hour from my house, too!
Just too cold at night to go camping, we like the heat: hot deserts, hot gulf water, hot springs... we wish there really was Global Warming!
What is got to be God's idea of a joke is the all-time RECORD snowfall in eastern US (Washington, DC) ... right NOW!
