Thanks Dennis, you're a pal. Great site. And while I'm at it: Television shows all of the people with good grammar vs those with bad or horrid. Can you count how many real estate agents on TV call themselves "Real a tors"?'
Here's a great test: write down the word Cavalry, show it to 10 people, ask them to read the word. 11 out of 10 will say "Calvary". The real a tor one throws me because even dyslexics normally don't add an extra letter to the middle of a perfectly good word.

Probably all Christians. The results may differ if you gave the test to a bunch of Yemenian camel jocks.

Anyone know the reason most little kids say "pasghetti" instead of "spaghetti".:?: They can't read yet and, basically, both words seem equally difficult. Always fun to hear them say it though.

I know, I know, nothing to do with this post.

My Mexican friends cannot pronounce Dirt or Bird. No sound like that in Spanish. On my side I have one helluva time saying the Spanish word for bat. I challenge the board to say how they would pronounce the chain of islands to the south of Cabo San Lucas.

As a born Dutchman, I found the "V" in a word extremely difficult when first coming to this continent.
For instance, in Dutch, vodka is spelled with a W, wodka, and pronounced as such. Had one hell of a time, and being in the bar business< was repeatedly made fun off. So, after a while I decided to forgo the word and just participated in imbibing in "THE STUFF". Still can't say it properly.
But then again, I've only spoken english for 50 years.:no::biggrin:

Here in Mexico for me, the trilling of the "R" can get to be messy at times. When I gave up making the big effort and just tried a subtle trill, things worked out better for everybody.

In our house, it's "Spa-Betty" don't know why, but it sure is cute. And FTR, I am an English major (yes, "am" even though I graduated several years ago...once an English major, always an English major) and I thoroughly enjoyed the link! Thanks!
