More Baja bicycling bizz
That last bike thread refuses to die! Caboclass of 83 set us bicycle advocates back 20 years. After about his or her 15th
rambling/self-promotion/unreadable post, I just waited for a Nomad response.......Man, what a flogging/royal beatdown! I admit, I loved it, the burro
had it coming. Nomads are brutal when needed.
But once again, please don't judge all cyclist by the idiots who ride two abreast, with one out in traffic. Or of the picture of three cars
slowing down traffic for a few riders...that is pure BS. And someone made the comment that there are as many idiot behind the wheels of cars as bikes.
And no, I have no desire to ride down Baja on highway 1.
But back to Caboclassof83, his comment of bike races in Baja brought back a legend we told around 1975. The "legend" goes like this,...a group of
about 135 racers were being lead out of Ensenada by a motorcycle cop when a loose dog started chasing the riders. The cop caught up to the dog,
unstrapped his gun, and bang, no more dog. The riders were shell shocked, and alittle more inclined to follow directions.
Another great event was the Tecate to Ensenada bike tour. I was there about 1980, what a great time. This sounds like BS, but I think there were
over 10,000 cyclist for this event. I went down with about 8 friends, didn't ride it, just drank a ton of beer.
Anyhow, please be watch out for the legal riders, with gas on the rise the numbers of cyclist will only increase. Enjoy, Ron

That must be why they're widening the road.

All too sad, in that the widespread understanding is that it is just not safe. I'm hoping that an event such as this could help dispel the the nasty
image that persists.

It is going to take Americans to get people back to Mexico, not the stupid ads etc. they run, people believe people of there own culture, not what
some foreign stats say.

Pot Found In Man's Bike Tires At Border
2.5 Pounds Of Marijuana Discovered
POSTED: 9:09 am PST February 23, 2010
UPDATED: 9:11 am PST February 23, 2010
SAN DIEGO -- An 18-year-old U.S. citizen has been arrested for trying to enter the country at the busy San Ysidro border crossing on a mountain bike
with its tires stuffed with marijuana.
Department of Homeland Security said Monday that customs officers felt something unusual when they squeezed the bike tires as the man crossed the
pedestrian checkpoint from Tijuana last week.
They ran the bike through an X-ray machine and found plastic bags filled with 2.5 pounds of marijuana, worth about $1,300 on the street.
The suspect, whose name was not released, is being held at a San Diego County jail

interesting article by mr. perry regarding the cop shooting the dog.....i was riding up and down our airstrip here in mulege last friday when i was
attacked by TWO packs of dogs at the same time, coming at me from both sides....i ended up flying over the handlebars and really screwing myself
up...possible broken ribs, black and blue all over my bod....no fun...dogs and bikes don't mix.
