need a lil help ! Garage door tension cables
I got a 16' HEAVY garage door with the overhead drum springs and the cables down each side.
Well,,,,one of the cables got fouled and I need to reset the tension on the overhead drum and re-attach the cables.
I'm well aware of the dangers involved, but its gotta get fixed.
Does anybody know the procedure ????
Thanx in advance !

A friend of mine used penny's, lots of them... wedged one at a time between the springs to streach them out. Then, once the spring is long enough to
attach pull them back out, one at a time. Let me know if you need more info on this technique and I'll call him up.

no,,, thanx I can "spin" the drum OK with a couple of pry bars, but right now the cables are jus dangling there, unattached.I need to "respool" the
cables and apply tension to the drum so I can open and close the door.
I'm not sure what the procedure is ?

I just watched a repair man (garage door specialist) do it several months ago---------it was really simple, BUT you definitely have to know the
"proper procedure", as you say, and have the right tools. Don't try it unless you know exactly what your doing, is my impression.
I know this is not any help, but I did want to caution you.

Yea,we've tried it several times, but never get it quite right.???
Inevitably, one of the cables gets fouled and we have to do the whole thing over again!
Theres gotta be a "one time" proper "adjustment" ????
