My experience is with the Old Downtown Crossing
mexicalli, Mex IMM is about 100 ' inside the
crossing to the left, I've always just got the 7 day
free card, so no need to pay, I've found limited
parking for Immigration,
I've ended up 6 blks inside Mexicalli to park,
but I believe bank is nearby for the 180 day card,
I'm not sure about a 24/7 place to pay though,
so not sure you could pay on a weekend,
understand the east crossing has fmt's,
with a place to pay, again don't believe they
have a 24/7 pay place either, I know they issue fmt's, then you pay later in your trip, I believe you have
5 days to pay, good ? re: the need for
a passport to get an fmt, up until the 1st of this
month Mar.,, I would say no, but now
I think they want a passport, things are set
to change a bit on May 1, new form an fmm
replacing the fmt

If you don't have your passport... then have you previous standard forms of ID (birth cert. + photo ID). If there was a receipt for the Sentri application, bring that!

???

I don't know... if you are an AAA member, ask. You still must stop inside the border at the INM office to have the FM-T stamped (validated)... and since you have to do that anyway, you can just get the thing there. The only issue is at a border like Tecate that doesn't have a bank teller right there at the border if you are getting a paid FM-T for over 7 days.

AAA always had the free fmt forms, which were
done away with 10 yrs ago, I don't believe AAA
handles the forms, prepaid or not.
My understanding is as of the 1 st of March,
one is required to have a passport to ENTER Mex,
they are not checking as you enter.
US Citizens are exempt from this requirement
for travel in the border area, or the 72 hr. period, for further travel
Gringos are required to have a passport,
which logic tells me, one would need a passport
when applying for an fmt, personally if I were to
plan a trip and get to Mex Immigration and
be turned away because you don't have your
passport, I'm not sure I would chance that
