Damn...
We had the perfect trip worked out... Right after ski season we drive down to La Paz with the new kayak and gear, and rent a house for two weeks. We
already bought the plane tickets for my parents to fly out from Oregon to meet us; they've never been out of the US and I know they'd love La Paz, it
would have been a great experience for them. After they flew home we were driving back to Mulege, to put in for the kayak trip I've been dreaming
about for years, spending a wonderful month paddling all the way to La Paz. I've finally put together all the gear we need, figured out the permits,
the maps and logistics, etc. I've been dreaming about the paddling and spearfishing and beaches for months.
Two days ago I crashed and burned skiing at Alta, and broke my back. Sigh... maybe next year.

Bummer, man. But as they say, mierda happens. Virtually anyone who participates in strenuous physical activities always must understand the risks
involved. Most of the time, it's cool, and the thrill of the activity is a huge reward. Just hope your injury is such that you will make a complete
recovery.

My dad "kissed bark" once while skiing and broke his back (also punctured a lung). Some idiot hit him from behind on a double diamond bump run and
sent him into the tree. I was on Jr. Ski Patrol at the time (15 years old), kept his lungs inflated and actually had to send the Killington VT Ski
Patrol away to get a proper backboard for him for the ride to the bottom. They were just going to put him on the sled and he likely would have been
paralyzed. It was a sad ride back home on the bus without him (he was the high school ski club chaperon) and he never skied again. I had the car
keys and drove the car home from the school (no license yet). Mom didn't believe me when I walked in the door and told her he was still back in VT in
the hospital. Not good. I did get another full week of skiing in though when we went back up there to stay with him before the ambulance transport
back home. Hope you recover fully! My dad did.
Huge pic- how did you do that? lol

Andy sorry to hear this. I feel part of your pain. I went down hard coming down in front of warming hut 4 at Mammoth. I hit an ice patch and went down
and the binding didn't let go on my right foot and I twisted my knee pretty bad. Never been skiing since.

You are one lucky person!!! I too broke myback...racing motorcycles in 1973. Been in a wheelchair fulltime since. Lucky you are not in a wheelchair
and also not a Quad as you said you had C level injuries.
While Mexico can be a b-tch at times in a wheelchair I still go every chance I get. Would be down there right now if it were not for a surgery on my
hand last week. Pushing around (anywhere) is not going to happen until this sucker heals. The doctor put a big cast on my hand/arm just so I would
not screw up her beautiful work.
Best of luck to you in healing. Don't push it to hard and don't be surprised if you are unable to do all the things you used to do.
