Short term, US auto insurance?
As we are now living full time in Mexico and have no residential address in the US, we no longer have liability insurance in the US.
Can anyone recommend companies that will write policies for ex-pats on a short term basis? Online application and binding preferred.

I don't know about getting it on-line, but the street hawkers in the drive-thru food court at the San Ysidro POE offer that type of insurance to
northbound cars. They walk around between the cars with clipboards like the currency exchange people do.

Call: Elena Bretts (646) 178-5715 Ensenada
She sells U.S. Auto Ins. by the day. She is in Ensenada. Her e-mail address is: elenabretts@yahoo.com
The only caveat is she cannot insure vehicles registered in CA.
I usually pay $10 dollars for laibility only, for the first day, and about $1.00 per day thereafter. You must pick up the policy at her place of
business and it's hard to find the first time.
There may be others, but she is reliable.

We have used this company for years. We did need to show our FM3 or FM2. We were in and out within 10 minutes.

Those two Ensenada options will not work for us right now, as we are in Sonora on the mainland.
But, still, I'd like to know what insurance companies each of them are writing policies for.

OK Hook;
Here's the best I can do. I found an old policy in the car dated 3/03/2010, and here is the info about the company:
National Unity Insurance Company
One Huebner Parke
San Antonio, TX 78248
To report a claim: 800-554-3498 or (210) 479-8886
Policy states:
Non-Resident Auto Liability Policy
(No coverage provided in Mexico)
Then it describes the coverage which is the minimum for CA.
As well as my personal and vehicle info.
The Policy fee for one day was $9.00. After that it's only like a dollar a day or so.
Hope this helps and gets you on your way.
