Hotel Bar and Restaurant suggestions for La Paz
I will be attending the Norra race finish the first weekend of May and am looking for lodging , food and adult refreshments. The Malecon area would be
the preferred area. Thanks for all suggestions.

I would stay away from this one, theres much better places in town.

Try the Tres Vergenes....voted best restaurant in La Paz three years in a row...excellent!! a nice walk off the malecon.

For food theres Buffalo BBQ, El Rustico, Azul Marino, all are good.
For lodging, try Baja bed & breakfast, Casa Tuscany, or Angel Azul.

Hola, hotel bogumbilias is off the malecon and has reasonable rates, large rooms, serves breakfast until about noon and has a huge pool. i've eaten
regularly when visiting at la perla and bismarkcito on the malecon and rancho viejo, which is southerly at the end of the malecon and up one block and
is open 24 hours.
hotel los arcos has been shuttered for appx. two years. supposedly, the owner closed it down after a couple of employee strikes.
the chinese restaurant that is upstairs on the second floor and about two or three blocks up from the malecon that is touted as great is really
mediocre at best. food is bland and service is nonexistent at least it was for us !

rooms are around $ 70.00 for two persons and rooms have two queen size beds. when my son and i stayed there the monday after easter, there were about
seven guests and there are approximately 53 rooms in the two story hotel ? parking is fairly secure as well. the entrance is on a southerly one way
street serdan from cross street vicente guerrero.

Hey rat, theres been several security problems at Bugambilias, i have heard many people complain about having their stuff stolen while they are out. I
didn't pay much attention until it happened to a friend of mine who was visiting. Someone (with a key) took his camera, clothes, and money. We
complained to management, but they actually got angry with us, so we treatened to take the matter to the police and they agreed to pay for my friends
losses.

I would agree with you, Jesse. I was just considering that Fubar just seemed to be a good match for the racing crowd.

I been there at least 4 times, and everytime i have been dissapointed. One time i ordered some nachos and wanted an extra side of guacamole, the
waiter told me i had to buy a full order of guacamole (80 pesos) or nothing. I told him i only needed a little, and he said thats the way they do
things there. On another visit, i ordered a burrito, i wanted some chiles toreados, to wich the waiter informed me the kitchen was busy and couldn't
make my chiles. They seem to be very inflexible and not care about the needs of their customers, wich to me, is not a good thing considering their
food is mediocre at best.

$80.00 pesos for guacamole. WOW that is pretty high. WE get $20.00 pesos for a pretty good size bowl.
Hey that waiter could have come from the old La Pinta. Ordered a club sandwich came with salad and fries. We looked at the plates and noticed no fried
called the waiter told him and he said sometimes you get them and sometimes you don't that is the way it is in San Quintin. So this guy must of left
and went south.

When we are in town on a Monday and Tres Virgenes is closed, we sometimes eat at Bufalo BBQ, and it's pretty good, though somewhat expensive. 3V is a
better value, with better food, and always excellent house wine, and lower prices.
If you don't care for B&B style lodging, Hotel Perla is pretty good. Parking is secure, no problems I've heard of. We just learned that they give
a good discount if you have an fm3, as Los Arcos did. The food in the restaurant is nothing special, but it is great for people watching.

hola, we just stayed there, hotel bogumbilias, the monday after easter and fortunately, had no problems. i thank you for the heads up though as i do
recomend them on other websites but, no mas. haven't gone to tailhunters yet but am now aware of their policies. perhaps, jonathon needs to be alerted
or perhaps he is aware ?

When we go to La Paz twice a year for our Rotarians clinic, we stay at the Hotel Villa Marina. It's safe, has a restaurant ("Dingy Dock") and a bar,
along with a marina. But it is a bit of a walk down the malecon to the heart of town. Never been disappointed there yet.
Two dirt roads diverged in Baja and I, I took the one less graveled by......

Gorilla Grill or El Taste for breakfast. The original Rancho Viejo on Marquez de Leon for lunch. Tres Virgenes for dinner. Casa Tuscany is a nice B
& B, has a very good vibe. Have heard good things about El Moro.
It's a shame what's happened to Los Arcos, a crime, really. I used to stay there a lot in the days it took to get my house ready for occupancy. I
liked the old rooms better than the annex and the food in the dining room was actually pretty good, considering it was a hotel restaurant. Not to
hijack the thread, but I'd be curious to know the real story about its closure and whether or not it's ever going to come back. I'd hate to see it
standing vacant and forlorn-looking like the Gran Baja did for so many years.

Hey, Jesse's Tres Virgenes is my favorite so far. I have only eaten there once, but it was the best pIace I have eaten in over the last 15 years
anywhere (came back from three weeks all over Italy last year). I will say that I used to like to go to that restaurant that was below Los Arcos
hotel, I think it was "El Barmeho" or something like that. Pretty fancy place with a good formal atmosphere, closed now.
I second that motion for El Taste for breakfast. They are a little pricey and their portions are a little on the small side, but the food is
consistently good, great view of the La Paz bay, and very attentive and polite service. Never a disappointment.
I recommend "Casa Buena" bed and breakfast in La Paz. Fond memories having stayed their while my house was being worked on. About a mile from the
Malecon, very very comfortabley rustic, great relaxed atmosphere, very reasonable price, great big cabana with flat screen TV, plenty of couches, free
use of pc to access the internet, and a community kitchen that everybody uses and congregates in. Plenty of secure walled in parking and a garden
area with a nice pergola and a pool. Very down to earth and welcoming and engaging couple that own and operate the place, Suze and Milton, ph:
52-612-122-5538. I actually lament not having to stay there since I had my house built in La Paz.
