Loreto fishing ??
Been reading about all the great fishing around Mulege, but haven't seen a single mentioning of the fishing around Loreto.
Have any Dorado shown sofar and are there still yellowtail around ?? Have to use my time carefully and don't want to go hunting for something that
ain't there yet.
Any update would be appreciated.

Ed,
We have been out twice in the past 10 days and have been pulling some quality cabrilla at the Punta Lobos seamound.
My best was this 12 kg. cabrilla, and such good eating!!

Can you fish straight out from the Loreto Marina or is that a protected area?

You can fish straight out from the marina. I'm not sure the new protected area's are in play yet. check out www.bajabigfish.com they have a map of the protected area's

Inshore now like Loretanas post with some yellowtail. Mackerel and bigeye have been hard to get. Good roosterfish, cabrilla and pargo among others
along the shoreline with sardinas. Normal fishing for mid May. Some sailfish but they're always the first pelagics to show. No consistent dorado
fishing lately. Nada to the south even Catalina as far as dorado are concerned. If Dorado are up in Mulege that's a good sign don't worry they'll
show up here too soon enough.

The jurel have been prretty easy, it's the macks that have been hard to get.
I have been seeing eight to ten boats working the spot out from the airport for the last two weeks. I didnt fish it but saw two to three yellows
per boat coming into the marina.
Cabrilla and pargo fishing has been very good and sardines are a lot easier to come by. Sooooo, take your pic.

Cabrilla is the best tasting fish, I think.
What's the best way to fish for them in Loreto: Shallow? Deep? Bait? Jigs? Close to shore? Out in the deeper waters?

The seamound off of Punta Lobos has been the most productive, in about 200 feet of water.
Ours were all taken on number 7 crocodiles with green lumilar, using a 6 to 1 reel and a medium fast retrieve.
We brought in 9 beauties between 3 anglers last Tuesday. 
Nothing came in on live bait.
