Find interesting that only folks that can make comments about race.... at those who are NOT WHITE...

If a white man were to do "stand up comedy routine" that Chris Rock uses... he would most likely be beaten to death by a group of "Brothers"... as Mr. Chris Rock can and does SAY anything about the WHITE RACE that he wishes.. he can use ANY words he wants..

As to "WessonMan. did I not say "I" find his words disgusting. It's my opinion or should I state it that way instead. You can support his words. If you do, I'd call you a bigot as well. JMHO"

What I said is posted above... if you your memory is short go back and read it... as for you... your pulling the same PC crap.. If one disagrees with what someone says on these issues... they are place without passing go into the "PC Jail"... OH, my he said the word... __________ fill in the blanks.. there are too many...

And for changing history, he is right on that one too... and others... like "single parent" Oh, let's see ... we don't like the word "divorced", widowed, hoar, sluut... we will just call it a "single parent"..... oh, boy..

And for Skeets.. much of his points made may lack the "crafted language" of someone of the Nancy Pelosi camp... but, he raises questions which should be responded to with facts.. not subjective Blah, Blah.. or personal attacks on his vocabulary...

Name calling, thanks Cypress... that puts into a realm of about the 4th grade... which where all the "word police" should be placed... as that is where I remember it starting...

Appreciate yout thoughts on the subject, Wiley, although I think this topic has spiraled down to another level which this board can't handle. Since true discussion isn't the foremat here and hurling sound-bites is, the future looks gloomy.

Happy birthday Skeeter.
Not far behind you and still enjoy reading your rantings. At least, they're always good for a chuckle if not anything else.:biggrin:

Thanks be for ALL of those Happy Poor Folk

I think we should ALL be able to agree on that.

Those who are content, accepting and/or pleased with their poverty realizing how lucky they are to have the important (and free ?) things in life are good for the rest of us.

IF they were ALL disgruntled, they'd be a real pain in the posterior. There are far too many of them right now who are a frequent irritant.

Unfortunately, the Liberals are trying to disturb the natural order of things by artificially elevating too many of the undeserved poor. The Proper order is to help them enough to avoid abject conditions and starvation while "Allowing" those among them who are motivated to rise by virtue of their own accomplishments.

But, that's just my compassionate side showing itself.

"He IS Heavy. And, he Ain't my Brother".

Didn't Father Flanagan say that ? Or, something like it.

Practice and Training

AND, practicing Basketball on the inner-city courts is Darwinian.

Those who survive are GOOD.

No kid playing on a school court in Hermosa Beach can ever hope to be that tough.

since I spent 58 good years in Baja living and loving the mesicano People as well as the Sea of Cortez, my opinions are Colored by Experience.

I still have several families who are still poor after many years that are happy, satisifed, and do not want to go North.

That is why I suggest to some of these "Young Squirts" that they go and live with the Poor{Not TJ} or a Border Town, but into the interior. They should Learn!!

zNo matter what you say, you cannot ever know the true Mind of the Individual,
My True Mind: I detest the word "Gringo" especially "Phinque Gringo"

I especially do not like its use by Americans.

You have just got to learn that Other people think different than you do especially you Liberals.

Watts Surfers

Having grown up in the Watts area, including my early surfing days in the 60s, I can attest that I NEVER saw anyone else with a board on their car AND I was the target of a lot of strange comments which I ALWAYS took with good nature.

Given the ethnic shift since then, A Surf shop wouldn't be a winning Business model.

There's always room for more Crack Houses, though.

Then, perhaps you ought to make a pilgrimage back to Watts. Perhaps unbeknownst to you, the area has gradually become a melting pot, with a burgeoning Latin American population. It truly is not your granddaddy's Watts.

A Pilgrimage ?

Surely, you jest.

Whatever has happened in South L.A., a Renaissance wouldn't be the descriptive word.

Actually, thanks to Google, I have taken a "Virtual" Pilgrimage. I was surprised to see that the house my Great-Grandparents bought in 1927 where I was born and later lived through High School and after, looks much the same as when I left there in the 60s. Some changes in the neighborhood are noticeable, though. Notably, the alleys that were common throughout that area. From the satellite views, it is obvious they're impassible from the accumulated debris. No surprise. Who, in their right mind, would go down one of those alleys, anyway ?

It would be interesting, I suppose, if I survived. Is that the reason for the suggestion ?

I note that the High School to the West that I graduated from (Washington [now Preparatory] High School) had a minority student population of approx. 47 percent in '62. Roughly evenly divided between Black and Hispanic. For 08-09 (2440 students), it was still roughly even, BUT it was 46.7 percent Hispanic and 52.4 percent Black. 0.2 White (5 total).

A Pilgrimage Home would likely be a bad idea in this case. I'll Pass.

OR

Assuming that you mean Ralph Bunche, it is more likely to produce the next Malcolm X.

Without question, there will be plenty of the "Next" Gangsters and Murderers bred there.

Highly unlikely, though, is that the area will produce a "next" of Washington High's most famous student.

Esther Williams.
