More South Campos/La Perlita Problems
We'll they have done it again! First it was Ed and Paula, now it's Greg and Brenda. The La Perlita campo owner basically forced another family out
of their life long dream with multiple threats and actions. It's a shame and it sounds like Dan and Rocio are next. Everything was sold off the last
couple days and the move back to the states is happening. No problems at all at Nuevo Mazatlan. I'm not sure of the motivation of this campo owner
but this is not good for any south residents.

All that sided with Ed and Paula are at risk. Francisco is his own worst enemy.

It's a long story but basically the south campo owners watched as their compadres in the north campos built these big retirement communities and make
big money. Some of those south campo owners wanted that same american money even though we are all completely off the grid (no water, sewer, power,
etc.). Most of us like the appeal of being "off the grid" as it keeps the area just a little more remote, difficult to live in and thus, not as
populated. When the economy turned sour, their was less money coming in as ever. As a result Francisco (La Perlita) started raising rent and
charging unreasonable fees every time you turned around. One of the campos long time/full time residents (Ed and Paula) had more drastic run-ins
including Francisco filling in the campo well. More "things" happened but Ed and Paula ended up going to court but finally giving up and moving to the
west coast. Some of the more vocal owners have been targeted by Francisco as trouble makers and are being evicted. Francisco has outright told them
pay me a lot of money or I will get rid of you like I did Ed and Paula. In my humble opinion you have an uneducated (formally) person who lacks any
ability to relate or communicate with another human, lacks any business sense and does not care about the future of his campo. He has out right
stated, I will evict you and make big money off your house when you leave. Without making it sound racist, I'm sure a lot has to do with the
machismo/hispanic culture and a few americans standing up for what is right. Yes sometimes they get back in his face with smart assed comments. Then
it comes to the preverbal mexican standoff and unfortunately no one wins.
My family has a home in Nuevo Mazatlan and the owner their has an excellent relationship with his residents. He raises the rent as put forth in the
lease agreements but for what we get it appears very reasonable.
I do see a younger generation taking over the campos from their elderly family members/owners and wanting the focus placed on a quick buck without
earning it. Hummm, sounds like the states doesn't it?

This could happen to anybody on leased land, including myself, and I think we'll see more of it as soon as development resumes. That's one reason
I'm thankful I built with wood. I'll turn my house into a Burning Man blaze before I'll let it be taken away.
Sorry to hear of all the crap going on over there. Dreams turned to nightmares isn't what anybody had in mind when we started our projects.
