Countdown begins
Well we have sold our house in Washington, DC. The movers came yesterday and we will rent an apt for the next three months until I retire in August.
Then off to the farm for a couple of months while we settle all the US
business-- and on Nov 1 we plan to be in La Paz to begin the next adventure- building our house in Centenario.
Plans are done and we have talked to two contractors and we will meet with them when we arrive and get a proposal- and get going. This is a plan we've
been working on for about 4 years and it's really a short fuse compared to what it was when we began.
Thanks for all the good wishes, advice, assistance of all types, and language lessons we have and will continue to accept.
Look forward to seeing you in Baja Sur soon. Norm and Joyce

Wow, sounds like the old tape is about to be pulled out and a new tape is being put in.
We are here in Phoenix and we own a home in San Felipe and we are in a similar place, well my wife is. She can retire at any time, although, are
plans are not to do so for a few years.
I am responding to your post only because I did all of the work on getting our casa built in San Felipe and want to offer you any help that I can
about what I learned. The way homes are bult and the local and national laws, and use laws loosely, are quite different than in the US. I would also
look around and see if there is simplified boot on understanding UBC (Universal Building Code). This will be a handy book to have when it comes to
makeing sure that your are using the correct gauge of wire for different amp 110 and 220 devices. Also, it is handy for plumbing and the concept of
"P" traps and vent stacks. In other words, things that will be inside cement walls that will be hard to work on after the fact. Feel free to U2U me
with any questions.

Thanks Blue- We have pretty much everything in order with the plans, a memorio de calculo, the structural engineering and several contractors who have
built for others who have indicated a desire to bid on the work. I'm sure I'll have questions about everything and the great thing here is that there
is usually an answer. Norm

I hear that Longlegs comes highly recommended.
I'm sure she'll walk you right through any difficulties you may encounter.
And if that fails, try Gnu.

Ah, the conviviality of the "hood".
Congrats, kat....we've got the red carpet (and the requisite Pacific) ready to toast the ground breaking. Your neighbors will be back then to greet
you too and Bajabass will find out that you are almost just around the corner.
We're all looking forward to this!

Bass our plans are to be in La Paz by Nov 1 and getting the project underway. I'm excited - Longlegs has helped , oldlady has provided the incentive
to get ground broken, vandenberg has contributed his two cents, Cortezblue has offered guidance-- it's all good.. Norm

Congrats Kat, and good luck. You have great help lined up, but I can drink beer and watch! I'm thinking we both picked a good place to live. I'm
really hoping the buyer for my biz is a quick learner. It will get me down
there sooner.

We'll be in La Paz Oct/Nov for the next Rotarian Clinic. Maybe you could join us for one of their weekly meetings held each Tuesday night at the
Marina Villa Hotel at the end of the malecon and meet the local rotarians? Congrats on your upcoming move.
