Whatever you buy you might want to beef up the suspension for the dirt roads down there.

Woody,

Good luck finding one and I hope it is a sturdy one for where you like to travel!

Enjoyed the one I had many years ago.

Hope the new home is working well for you.

thanks guys. i've been dialed in to the "hobo" camping for years and now i am over dealing with the wind. not that i can't do it any more it's just time to upgrade my sitchiation some.... i don't want to go with a pop up camper because when i get to the "spot" i still like to explore and dropping the camper seems like too much hassle.

Woody,
With our Tundra we pulled a Casita Fiberglass Trailer and then had an Outfitter pop-top camper. Both cut down the gas mileage a lot and both were hard on the Tundra----mainly front brakes that were improved in the 2004 Tundra.

So keep whatever you get light----strong, but light!

those Casitas are nice. i've been eyeing them. next time put ceramic pads on the front of the tundra's poorly designed braking system. they help ALOT.

Yep, saw some guy literally drag one into a camp in Central Baja one night and he didn't end up leaving with it. Needed major repairs. Definitely beef it up if you get one.

you got a pick up truck, right?

take a box of kitchen supplies, a propane 2-burner stove and 5-gal propane bottle, walk in tent, folding tables/chairs, water in 5-gal jugs: you got yourself a camp! if you bring beach umbrellas you got shade!

pitch camp and you can drive away from it and explore all you want.

you won't find anything decent/rugged for under $5k, and one 60 mile trip over washboard will fully depreciate your $5k trailer

a good walk-in tent is much nicer than crappy old trailer bed.

Why are washboard roads a necessity?
