Discover Baja

I just wanted to give a shout out to Mayte and the other girls at Discover Baja for a job well done. I needed to make a last minute trip to pick up a broken down dune buggy which necessitated adding a Trailer to our existing auto insurance policy. They handled all the paperwork via phone and internet and we had what we needed in 30 minutes.

We have been members for years and have always gotten great service.

This club is expensive.
$40 to join
$32 for a visa that costs $22
Is not that an extra $10?
What is the insurance markup?
Why does everyone think they get a better deal
if they are with a club?
Do the owner drive down to help you if you get in trouble?
Do they know people?
Does shari get free insurance to promot them?

WTF? it was the first time I met Hugh & Carol and I'm just saying they are fantastic...real...real...nice folks who were on holidays....yeah, and they happen to have a business which I didnt even know about till they arrived.

I'm not a member nor will I get any discounts for anything(I comped them a night)...what would I need insurance for? I already have all the insurance I need.

But I will offer discounts to their members....they have a whole network of businesses that offer discounts which would end up saving the members more money than the membership costs...which in itself is a good deal.

When I meet genuine fine folks, I'm happy to tell people about them and their business...is there a problem with that??

Kat, let's see, you want people to do business and not profit. Ok, I get it, just took a while.

Many people want and need support in their travels. Travel agents still serve this purpose and somehow need to be paid. Clubs have the advantage of buying power and that can be a good thing.

P.S. The patio looks great!! Always seem to be smiling faces in that spot!

They have always taken great care of me too! One phone call handles it all and all the paperwork shows up in the mail. Very easily worth the minimal adiitional cost and wonderful people too.

No worries

They are good people who have worked very hard to provide a first rate travel service and source for Baja books, maps and discounts. They do not mark up tourist cards that big an amount... it is just a service they provide if you will be crossing a border without an open bank to pay for a card... well worth it to save a BIG hassle Mexico puts on tourists to be legal (needing to pay for a government paper at a bank instead of at the border/INM desk).

I've been a member for at least 20 years and counting. Their services are extremely convenient and they are extremely supportive of Baja no matter what.
If I had a business in Baja, Discover Baja's endorsement is as no other. If one buys their insurance and an accident occurs...will they come down to help you? No. And neither will anyone else. An auto accident policy is only as good as the agent that the insurer sends.

As Shari sates: "When I meet genuine folks, I'm happy to tell people about them and their business". :saint:

We, as Nomads, are constantly doing just that. That's what we Nomads do.
