dia de Padre Fiesta in Asuncion

After a morning with the sealions at Isla Asuncion, we showered and got gussied up to attend the family Father's Day fiesta at tio Javier's casa. It was a classic event with live band and fun to watch several amigos join in with the musicians.

We brought some percussion instruments and enjoyed teaching our family and friends how to play them. Mulegena was a big hit on the drum!!

primo Flacco taught his daughter this instrument.

the girls tried their hand on the drum

no one escapes the ladies when they drag you onto the dance floor...so Chris found out! After that, he migrated to the outer limits of the party...smart guy

here is a classic photo of sister in law Blanca andher daughter Pati and husband Marcos...whom many of you have partied with. (I blame her for my wicked hangover!!)

while everyone is dancing, drinking and playing music..this little guy snuck into the cake...as usual.

One of the old timers from San Roque sang a few tunes too.

Our family loves it when our visitors share these events with us..it's always fun how they add spice to a party. We hope more of you will plan to be here on Mother's or Father's Day to partake in the festivities.

Here is a little ditty...kinda rustic but great family fun. You have to click on the photo I think.

Juan had some good licks there on lead guitar! What fun to be able to hear as well as see them play!

What fun! You guys do know how to party hearty indeed!! Lavida Loca chica!!

Now if only the Mexican soccer team could play this well, lo ciento mucho. I really wasn’t pulling for Uruguay.

haha but it only advances to play against Argentina, the team that eliminated them in the last world cup so their hopes are not too high!

arriving late to this thread

While I was traveling in Colombia, I purchased an instrument similar to the one you are playing called the Guacharaca.

They're lots of fun!:bounce: Great thread. Looked like a fun time.

Exactly. Here is a great example of it being used while performing Vallenato at a festival in Valledupar/Colombia, where Vallenato originated.
