Hola mi amigos !!

Well thanks to Don Jorge's wondering where I am; and to Mike H. for letting me know of his musing, I am posting and will continue to add my 2-cents to this board.

I have been busy, as we all tend to be. The summer has passed way too quickly. My 2.5 weeks plus planned in Baja June-July was cancelled. But it makes for a funny story.

I bought a new Hummer H2, and yes, of course it is yellow (anyone that knows me has no doubt it would be), and drove it home. Less than 24 hours later I climbed into the back of it. I was stuffing stuff in, packing to leave for Baja the next morning. I backed out, underestimated the distance to the ground, but already had my body weight shifted out. When I didn't touch ground, I looked down...it was a good 5 feet down from arm to ground. I fell out, broke my elbow.

Once you stop laughing (I can take it, go ahead), I had to cancel my trip.
I spent the summer with visits to the physical therapist instead, interspersed with a lot of local camping.

Now I'm taking beginning Spanish at the local college. It's been a challenge for me, but I'm learning some. I may even be able to butcher out a few whole sentences at Bahia this New Year's!!!

My next trip to Mexico will be on a cruise ship stopping at Ensenada the week of Dec. 15th. However, on the heels of that trip, I will be driving into Baja for an as yet undetermined amount of time. I might even go all the way to Cabo...it's not yet planned, just know I'm going.

Hope all of you have had some great trips during the last six months....are there any get-togethers planned?

I CAN RELATE! Good to see you back & posting, sorry about your mishap.

I've fallen out of my camper butt first before. Backed out and missed the stepstool, and once the weight shifts aft...well, the course has been plotted & it's all over "but" the bouncing :O

Obey your PT

Hey Geo good to see you here. I'll refrain from any pinko liberal jokes about the hummer and just welcome you. BTW a few years back I had just bought a Land cruiser when on the second day I ran out of gas just as I was about to crest a hill on a dirt road near Santa Fe NM. Not wanting to lose momentum I began to exit the vehicle as it was slowing down hoping I could push the last few feet and cruise down the other side of the hill, well I placed my foot right in front of the rear wheel and ran it over. It sounded like I ran over a wicker basket. I laid in the road for about 45 min until someone passed by and helped. I sure did love that land cruiser though.

Hi GeoRock,
Great to finally see you here! A yellow Hummer? Wow, guess we'll see you and Pete coming from miles away!

Did you see the photo I took of you running the tequila tasting table at the Pyramid Resort? THAT was a fun night! Remeber the gal that flashed her boobs? I think she liked you! LOL!!!

Be safe and I look forward to tequila toasting with you again!
David

no, in my mind it identifies me as a proud to be American conservative democrat with aging hippie tendencies that likes to own guns, play with explosives, believes in the death penalty in rare instances, wants to decriminalize marijuana possession, invest in education, alternative energy, health care and stand up to a criminal administration that lies and has less integrity than Clinton could ever dream of. Oh and it stands for balancing the budget also and my hero Al Franken. It stands for mashed potatoes, steak, apple pie and hash brownies, tofu burgers, curly fries, fermented soybean products and pot in every kitchen that wants it. It stands for peace and tolerance and the containment of evil until all in the neighborhood gang up on the bad guy and beat the crap outta him.

If you want I can also outline what it does not represent. Just let me know.

Welcome aboard GeoRock. I hate you for your hummer but I'll back off if I can have you take a picture with me behind the wheel. We'll miss you guys on this fall trip but look forward to seeing you New Years. Maybe we can set up some races between the village and La Gringa! Let's set the stage now. I'll make the invitations now. We'll invite Wild Bill, me, you and Debra. We'll clock the time and run the race one at a time. Projected results in minutes: WB, 3.27; me, 5.90; you, 10.00 and Deb?479385264958732...well, you get the idea. Speaking of Deb, we'll have to work on getting her south for the winter.

Jeans: I have since added a hitch step in the hope it will prevent future mishaps. That body weight'll get cha everytime.

Bajabus: I thought my story was good, but you beat me hands down! Hope the foot healed nicely. By the way, love your rantings. Hope you are voting for Arnold.

Neal: What the *&## is that avartar of yours???? Is it a ....Peeking Tom or what?!! And I love my H2 more than you, sorry. It's just that I've never been made a Baja wife you know.

David K: I remember HER!!! Scary! I kept moving away, she kept moving closer. Tequila does funny things to people. But it doesn't make me flash, despite requests. At least not until the 8th shot.

Skeet: Go Governator!! Arnie's my hero. He'll repeal the tripling of our car taxes.

Keri: Hi! 'Tis good to hear from you. Can't wait till the next book signing.

And finally, Mike H.: A photo and a race...hmmm....is squashing my competition with my lovely Hummer okay? That won't violate the race rules will it? Yes to the photo (for a cold Dos XX). Come on Deb, get with it, fly south, be a snowbird.

Thanks for the warm welcome back, mis amigos.

Ahhh Arnold...the compassionate republican. He's not bad and I love his movies.....there is just a little voice in the back of my head that keeps wispering california....actor.....politician......scary.

Capt. I gave her permission to spend freely at victorias secret and invited her to watch the Man show with me afterward.

oh oh I knew I would rekindle interest in the atomic fireball story. OK I have to be honest here. It got back to me that the folks involved in that story strongly suggested that I not finish it. If you are ever around the Elias calles area stop in around the 72KM where the sandal maker lives and while he is making you some sandals ask about a really big party many years ago with some unconventional fireworks, the Mexican Navy destroyer that anchored off shore, the helicopter overflights, the squads of army and marines that descended, the search for the terrorist training camp and the great fun everyone had blaming it all on some drunk Canadians that mysteriously disappeared.
