My Favorite Baja RV Parks and Campgrounds

What are your favorite RV Parks and Campgrounds in Baja?

One of our favorites is Estero Beach in Ensenada for it's wonderful estuary, birding, restaurant, pool and security.

I will add more over time as we mentally head south in this thread.

Portrero just before Tecate (it's almost Baja!)

School for the Deaf RV camp -Tecate/Ensenada Ruta de Vino

Santa Inez near Catavina

Asuncion - Shari y Juan's (Sirena's?)

San Lucas Cove and Comacho's south of Santa Rosalia

Ray's in Mulege river valley

Any beach in Conception Bay - both sides of the Bay.

..and way too many more to list..

I do what the voices in my tackle box tell me.

We have stayed at Malarrimo RV Park in Guerro Negro, don't know about Mario's.

Malarrimo has significant power surges and intermittant water supply. There are better restaurants in town but it is handy for breakfast if you are staying there. This place is a classic in Guerro Negro and worth a visit if only for a drink. It is at times, or was when we were there chock full of 50' motor homes with over dressed Texans who had transversed the Copper Canyon on flat cars. To a person they hated Mexico, which they only saw from the windows of their motor home and the RV Parks that they inhabited. Their evenings seemed to be consumed with competative dressing, margarita drinking and I swear I hear one say "dear, can I touch a Mexican?".

Malarrimo has hotel units that appear to be well kept, if the presence of maids and lots of mops is any indication, we have not stayed in the rooms. Other Nomads have recommended them for their proximity to the restaurant. There are far better restaurants in Guerro Negro in my opinion.

We have not tried Mario's and would be interested in knowing more about it.

I'm coming down to Los Barriles , crossing the border on Sept 3rd. Looking to make the trip in 3 -4 days, so this post is perfect! Pulling a TT and looking for a relaxed trip.
Thanks in advance.

In my book there is no better RV Park/ B&B or home rental than is available thru Juan and Shari in Asuncion.

Asuncion is a safe, friendly fishing village, laid back and very attentive to their guests. It is a great place to fish, beach comb, surf, explore and enjoy cross cultural experiences in a very safe community. It is our numero uno place to stay in all of Baja.

The road to Asuncion is through the Visciano Bioreserve and the road is terrible and long. If you plan to go there drive slowly because of the potholes and shifting sand dunes.

Keep 'em coming, there are lots more RV Parks/Campgrounds in Baja!

Sr. Pompano (obe wan)

The only RV parked I have stayed at in Cativina is the very bland and no big deal park down the street from the Desert Inn.

I have always wanted to avoid that park but was not aware of another near there. Where is Santa Inez in relationship to "downtown" Catavina?

Can you tell me a little more about the place?

Thanks

It's south of Cativiņa a few K's. Turn left at the sign. Camping, simple rooms, and a small restaurant.

It is one mile south of Cataviņa on a PAVED side road... with a tall sign and another on the ground... ie. YOU CAN'T MISS IT, just beyond the deep arroyo vado with palms and sometimes water crossing the highway.

See photos posted of the sign by 'hbmurphy' on his report of our Mision Santa Maria trip (May, 2010). Food, bunk house and camping there... Santa Ynez, Santa Ines, Santa Inez, Santa Ynes are some of the ways it has been spelled... The first one of those four is the owner's choice and the second one is the government's choice!

Zoning? We don't need no stinkin' zoning.

No RV parks around Todos or Pescadero to speak of. There is one in Todos I wouldn't stay at. There are none near the beach.

There's one going in up the road from Cabo Extreme, next door to Tomas. Maybe he can check in and update that construction. They were doing electrical and putting in concrete pads when I saw it last.

Not sure I'd want a RV park next door to me but then I'd be happier with campers than the Mustang Ranch house South of Tequila Ranch.

glad all you RVers now have your list - I'll be sure to avoid them. A good camper never tells his/her sweet spots. And I'm a good camper.
