Baja Dream States: Dove of Peace
Synchronicity, Coincidence or Event Probability?
By RandyMac

"What is thought? It is not Matter, nor Spirit. It is not a Thing, but a Power and Force. The spoken words, being mere sounds, may vanish into thin air, and the written ones, mere marks, be burned, erased, destroyed but the THOUGHT itself lives still, and must live on forever."
~ ALBERT PIKE ~

PART ONE: Baja Dream States: Dove of Peace

Our interaction with the world is so incomprehensibly complex and continuous at times that it is very difficult to understand the probability of an event occurring in the future that was conceived of in our minds eye days or hours beforehand, whether perceived of in thought in a wide-awake waking state and/or a hazy dream state into the nether worlds beyond our modest realms of imagination.

So-called psychics often shoehorn or force-fit some current event into one's personal, political, or religious agenda to fit vague statements they made in the past to predict some future event because it is an extremely safe procedure to maintain, and it has the benefit to increase their psychic standing, since they can't be proven wrong.

The following story told in multiple parts, fits into the category of an unexplainable event of synchronicity to me and many other Baja nomads that were camped at Playa Los Cerritos in March 2003. This strange event involving real and symbolic doves became the subject of considerable discussion on chance events, synchronicity and perceptual visions of Peace in the Baja last March 6 hours before the US led coalition invaded Iraq to free the Iraqi people from the tyranny of Sadam Hussein.

I was originally apprehensive to post it to this forum for a number of reasons, until I was encouraged by a friend who witnessed the event firsthand and felt that it might spur discussion on this important subject of dream state and symbolic meaning of dreams. My friend concluded that since the event dubbed the "Baja Dove of Peace" was witnessed by over 70 people who were camped on the beach at Playa Los Cerritos that sunset afternoon on March 18, 2003, and that many people heard the details of the dream vision and the possibility of the event happening some three days before the strange afternoon that it actually did occur, then it must have been beyond coincidence or chance and is worth recounting in story.

Chance, Probability, or Synchronicity?
Scientists say that our eyes are truly wondrous windows on the world, and even though our eyes were the last of our senses to evolve and the most sophisticated sense organs, they are our main source of information about the wonderful world around us sending vast amounts of data more quickly to our central nervous system than any of our other KNOWN senses.

These same scientists also say that what our eyes register is not a picture of reality as it is, but rather, our brains combine information from our eyes with data gathered from our other senses, which is then synthesized with data gathered and drawn from past experience to give us a workable image of our world. This world-view image orients us and allows us to comprehend our situation, and helps us to recognize significant things important to us within our world. This image that appears on the retina, or "visual field," of the eye and the mental creation that composes our "visual world? is created by light falling on our eyes. But the visual world interprets these patterns of light as reality or an interpretation of reality but it is not reality itself. It is an image created in the brain formed by combining data from our multiple senses of information, our prior experiences, and cultural understanding.

What we perceive, then, is no more real than a picture of frenchfries that we can't eat because perception always intercedes between reality and ourselves. Because we see things consistently, we have also come to believe that we see things truly, but ultimately what we see more often is what we expect to see, and not what-really is.

Scientists also say that otherwise reasonable people such as myself have an inability to calculate probability, and abandon all reasoning to place faith in unsubstantiated chance coincidence or belief in deja vu or pseudoscience of clairvoyance when a peculiar event takes place in our minds eye well in advance of the actual event taking place. To often, people never question anything out of the ordinary when something does happen in the present, but people do not focus too much attention on all the times that this event could have happened and did not take place in our interpretation of reality.

Because we are perceptive and visual creatures, we trust in our senses and our own sense of objectivity is rarely if ever completely justified so we are rarely even conscious of the variety of factors that imping on our perspective of reality. Even more so when it comes to those senses and minds eye visions derived from subconscious mind and our personal experiences and particular set of beliefs. And our image of the world is governed by evolutionary principlesand to a great extent it is shared by others with the same cultural background or frame of mind.

Was what people saw on Playa Los Cerritos reality or a perception of reality, in this case a giant DOVE OF PEACE looming overhead formed out of a single cloud in the sky above all the campers on Playa Los Cerritos in the late afternoon sunset of March 18, 2003? Could this be a random chance event, or was it the result of mass hypnosis or hysteria due to the looming fears of war in Iraq? Or was there something else at work here?

Most people ignore the circumstances of a coincidence and cast it into the category of a lesser likelihood, otherwise known in scientific or philosophical circles as Occam's razor, or the principle of simplicity or the principle of parsimony, which is usually interpreted to mean something like "the simpler the explanation, the better" or "don't multiply hypotheses unnecessarily."

On the evening of March 14, 2003, I sat with the Sagal family from Grandforks, BC Canada, and two other native British Columbians to enjoy stories of the Baja and the day?s events. The subject changed to dreams and vision quests at Doug's prodding. Doug S had been probing this subject with me for the past week, much to my concern that I didn't have the explanations he was looking or hoping for. I retold the events gathered from my previous evenings dream encounter not thinking too much of it, since I have experienced similar dreams many times before from childhood. What I described in story that evening, was what I emparted to Doug S earlier that day.

I sat in a lawn chair back at my camp with Doug S overlooking the Pacific ocean and described my vivid dreamscape vision of the future and when the war in Iraq would start. I recounted it as being a full color surround sound enhanced window into a future event, or almost as if I was watching CNN in full color before the events actually took place. Doug learned of my background and interest in magic and hypnotism, over the course of weeks before this day, and prodded me for more. He seemed to think that I had some answers that he was looking for, so I played along, even though the water of the Pacific was calling for me to go cool off from the hot sun.

Doug said to me, "So the invasion of Iraq is going to take place at midnight March 18/19? How do you know this?" He was anxious and I kind of could care less when it started, but more, I wanted to know why it would start at all.

Of course I didn't know for sure as it was only something my mind's eye saw in a vivid dream a few short hours earlier. It was so clear, yet surreal. There they were, tanks rolling into Iraq without much resistance. But what was more strange were not visions of tanks, mortar shells and death, but the vision of a large white dove symbol gliding in place over Playa Los Cerritos at sunset on March 18, 2003, six hours before the war would officially start. I could see real doves flying up and down the Pacific beaches from above Todos Santos, to as far south as Cabo in my dream and the ever present giant DOVE symbol emblazed into a single cloud above Los Cerritos.

Doug wanted to know more of my strange dream. I told him that I saw many people digging and packing sand on the beach to create this huge sand carving at Playa Los Cerritos, but I couldn't quite make out what it was for certain. It looked like a large bird of prey or a buzzard, but somehow it was peaceful and different, with a light emanating out of it. In my dream it seemed as though hundreds of people helped to fashion the carving out of sand so planes could see it from overhead as the fly south and north. I described how in the dream that it was built over a three-day period and that it represented peoples thoughts on the impending war. And most strange, was when I told Doug that at sunset on March 18, the large white cloud would appear in the clear blue sky overtop Playa Los Cerritos from the north in the form of a DOVE SYMBOL, and would hang overhead for about half and hour before disappearing. Of course, Doug pressed me for more on the Dove and what it all meant, but I couldn't respond with too much more, as it was only a dream. And there was nothing to say that it would even happen.

More on the dream encounter in Part 2 later, where I feel it necessary to describe the three days of the DOVE and my new friend Doug and his mode of thinking at the time and my state of mind.

PART 2 continued tomorrow:

Karma One Painting as described by Doug Sagal

When I first met Doug S he was showing people this painting that looked like twin towers. Of course I didn't know what to make of him and the painting that he was describing, but being the Baja, I decided to discuss other things with him during my stay at Playa Los Cerritos.

In this photo below, Doug is describing a picture of a painting he calls Karma One, painted in 1978 by an artist from Grandforks B.C. Canada which he says shows 9-11 and the karmic reasons for the event. He also believes that this painting has more time frames, or some that have yet to happen.

I neither agree nor disagree with what he believes he sees in this painting.

Part 2: Baja Dream States: Dove of Peace

Baja Dream States: Dove of Peace
Synchronicity, Coincidence or Event Probability?

PART TWO: Baja Dream States: Dove of Peace

I made my way back down the beach after a wonderful evening around the fire with Doug's family and friends. I am not one for camping in the midst of everyone on a beach. The chance of politics, drunken brawls and religious squabbles is far to possible for my liking when people camp to close together. I prefer the solitude of a nice quiet beach camp away from the distractions, but within reasonable reach of other people. I can sit back on my lawnchair and gaze at the stars in the evening, and spot images in the clouds during the day, all without too much worry about being bothered.

The next day Doug showed up as usual after breakfast. He wanted me to fix his computer, something I really wanted to stay away from, as I found computers to be a source of my stress after 16 years in the computer software design business. I did what I could to fix Doug's computer problem and then the conversation went right into the evenings story of Doves and the Iraq war. Doug was full of energy and the story of my dream seemed to prompt him to want to take some kind of action.

Doug and I spoke of many things that morning, and after lunch we decided to work on the huge sand carving at Playa Los Cerritos. With my bucket, shovel and poop scoop in tow I headed for my little 4x4 to take us down to the beach. No time like the present.

In the late afternoon, Doug and I took a break from digging the sand which would form the initial sand carving structure of the DOVE. I knew Doug had something on his mind, but he didn't quite describe it to me. He had been talking to a lady that was riding her horse up and down the beach that day and she offered to give him something for the sand carving after it caught her curiousity.

Off we went, in Doug's van into Pescadero farming community towards Todos Santos to this lady's house. In the backyard, the lady showed us over to a large crystal in her beautiful garden that she said came from the Ozzark mountains in the USA. She had brought it down to the Baja a few years earlier as she was involved with Rikie or something. Doug was so focused on her describing it powerful qualities. I sat and admired her garden. After the usual, I promise to take care of it and bring it back in tack promises, Doug and I loaded this extremely heavy crystal into his van. It must have weighed over 90 pounds and it was awkward to carry. When I asked Doug what he planned to do with it, he told me that it was going to be placed on top of the DOVE's back in line with the center of the wings. He felt it would channel some energy from the sun, and who was I to question or argue with a man on a mission.

When we arrived back at Los Cerritos, the DOVE of PEACE was continuing to take shape. In all that day, about 10 people stopped by to ask what we were up to, and what the tons of sand would eventually cause to materialize. Many of them dropped their schedule for 20 minutes or so and pitched in to help with the carving. That evening Doug slept on top of the sand carving beside the large crystal. I prefer my bed in my camper to damp beach sand, so I went back to the Baja Chihuahua for a good nights rest.

PART 3 later:

Thanks Skeet. I've been up all night writing...

but it is time to take a break. I will finish the story later today (Monday) where I describe what happened at sunset on the third day (March 18th, 2003) after putting the final touches on the Baja DOVE of PEACE at Playa Los Cerritos.

PART THREE:

small image of the Karma One painting....

This is the painting that Doug Sagal showed me weeks before March 18, 2003, which probably had something to do with me dreaming of PEACE.

I did my best to avoid all news and negative thoughts while in the Baja, but I could hardly ignore this painting and what Doug was claiming.

clouds at san pedrito/Bob Marley full moon

Randy I think there must be some strange cloud gods happening at Cerritos. After the full moon reggae concert we went back to our camper and gazed up to the sky to see.........oh my goodness.........perfectly formed creatures.....great white shark......perfectly formed faces.....a hobo with a bowler hat on........Every cloud was a perfect image.............and yes we saw the phoenix as well! Myself and a 60 year old Phillipina Lady from Fresno watched for over two hours......then went to bed. I got up for a pee a couple of hours later and there was one cloud in the sky........a giant V with a check mark next to it. The strangest cloud I've ever seen. My travelling companion's name was Vance............. Does it mean Vance wears too much Nike clothing? Please enlighten me oh wise one:)!! I've never seen anything like it and we remarked that the area must truly be a magical power center.
ps. There were also some initials in the sand. Mine!!! TC I recall thinking that it was much easier to make the initials stand out in the snow:)
pps.-Don't eat yellow snow.......or sand:lol:

Found this Dove of Peace photo on my Mac while searching through some stuff today. Beautiful day in Lausanne, Switzerland but I'm sure the Baja is just as beautiful.

So busy and so little time to join in on the Nomad site. Maybe later this week.

Cheers,

RandyMac
