The restoration will be great. Are there tours of the old copper mining operations in Santa Rosalia or is that stuff abandon and off limits.

I'm sure if you stay at the hotel, Brenda will set you up.
I remember a couple of years ago a guy in a sailboat was in and out of all the mines...no problem. He told me some are right by the road. No OSHA
regulations there...I just think you need a guide.
Brenda even set him up on a working calimari boat one night. Too late for us....

were poking around on their own in there and somebody showed up and gave them a great tour. They had a blast and learned a lot.

THE MINES
THE ENTRANCES TO THE MINES ON THE HIGHWAY HAVE BEEN SEALED OFF SOME WHAT AND IT IS ILLEGAL TO ENTER THEM.
I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT MOST OF THEM HAVE BEEN FLOODED. I DON'T LIKE MINES AND CAN'T EVEN GO INTO THEM FOR TOURIST ATTRACTIONS SO I AM NOT THE ONE TO
ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS.

JR, you can see the balcony of one of Brendas Casitas on the left your picture. If you ever get a chance stop in for a visit. A super neat lady,
with a great little hotel. Truely one of Baja's hidden gems.

That pic is probably the most flattering photo of Santa Rosalia I've ever seen! As we Hwy 1 travelers know so well, the waterfront north of the city
center is, well how do I put this diplomatically...a real mess!
From Brenda's neat photos, it looks like the 'Malecon' is being constructed from the ferry landing, south - good job!
It's too bad some of those city funds can't be used to clean up the waterfront/hwy 1 areas to the north! The first-time hwy traveler, gets such an
inaccurate, first impression, as they approach from the north...I know it's an old industrial area, but it could be re-vamped into a much more
pleasing sight.
Brenda, are your casitas on the cliffs there, just before the turn into El Moro? That area has such great views of the sea!
According to my clock...anytime is \'BAJA TIME\' & as Jimmy Buffett says,

That is not really what Santa Rosalia looks like, except from there.
The sad part to me is, in spite of the unkempt appearance of S.Rosalia, when it changes, so will the history, ambiance, and general feeling/aura of
the true Baja and how it once was.
I highly recommend a trip to El Triunfo to experience in real life what people pay lots of money to experience at Knott's Berry Farm, before that is
gone too!

The last time my wife and I passed through there (April 2004) on the way back North - there was a CRUISE SHIP in town. Unreal how the place is
changing (for the better I think). They seem to be spending lots of time fixing/cleaning the town up.
