It sure would be helpful if you can get info on where that withdrawal was made. That would narrow down the search considerably.

Sorry Dennis, Rosarito. I'll try calling the bank when I get to work and see if they can give me anymore info.

Mr. abductor,
I'm sorry. I'm a young, single, working mother of two babies. My oldest is medically fragile and disabled. To say I'm stretched a little thin is an understatement. I understand if you've reached your end. Thanks for your help!

I think it will all come together. Rosarito Beach can be a little distracting for a beer lover.
Let's all keep cool and focused.

Cynthia is updating regularly with all the info she has and she says more is coming. She is complying with our requests. Thank you, Cynthia!

Does he have credit cards in addition to his ATM Debit Card?

As Cynthia says, he has withdrawn all the rest that was in his bank account, yesterday. Unless Dad has other sources of beer money, it is logical that he will turn up soon. :light:

Could also be waiting for a monthly infusion.
When pictures become available, maybe some of us within reach can go asking and looking.

Just debit, toneart. He receives social security disability, and my uncle is his representative payee. @ the beg. of this month, my uncle held off depositing the money until the 8th to see if my dad would contact someone... he didn't! but looking @ his acct, he was still using it, and he has some kind of overdraft protection that not only links his checking with his savings, but then continues to give him cash long after both accts are depleted! when my uncle deposited the soc. sec. money, he was already 400 in the negative!

i think if the bank didn't automatically do this, he would've contacted us by now.

Where in the states does he live? Did you mention you had filed a missing person report up there? If not, perhaps you should. The police might be able to get some cooperation from the bank...like freeze his account. That will bring him to the surface, quick.

Dennis's idea of freezing the acct is a good one unless it leaves him high and dry without ANY cash at all .... lesson to all of us, nomadic life or not, keep in touch with someone ....

he doesn't live...anywhere. He lives where he goes like, well, like a nomad! He used to live here in Las Vegas, then he went to Costa Rica for 3 months. He came back to Vegas to pick up his truck and drove to San Diego, where my grandparents live. He stayed there for a couple weeks, then went to MX.

It's starting to seem more and more like he is just having so much fun, he doesn't think about how worried my grandparents and I might be! Time gets away from him, he probably doesn't realize how much time has gone by...

Yes Blanca! Someone!!!

He has less than $20 in his acct. I bet he tried to withdraw more, but it wouldn't let him this time. I think my uncle will just hold off depositing the money here in a couple days, and that should draw him out.

I hope.

Blanca, just saw the post about the hostel. thank you! if he's not in a hostel, then he is perhaps renting a room.

he's grown very fond of craigslist and that could be where he looked to find one. i posted something on there a week ago and the only response i got was to come to baja nomad. (thank you)

I sure hope your dad is Ok cynthia, I'm sure he's having fun somewhere!

Freezing the bank account after the next withdrawal might work since that would assure that he has enough cash to live on until he surfaces?

Also maybe try contacting the bank in mexico where he is getting the money? I know that they keep a close eye on security cameras so if they had a photo of him they could maybe recognize him and pass on a message??

Also try calling the hotel where he was staying last and/or sending them a photo as well so they can pass it around with their staff.

Rosarito is not that big so I'm sure he will turn up sooner than later, until then we'll all keep you both in our thoughts and prayers!

Cynthia,

Why is your uncle custodian of your father's finances? Is your father mentally impaired, chronically irresponsible, or just a free spirit?

What is his attraction to Latin America?

Your answers could possibly provide clues to his whereabouts. I realize that these questions are personal. If you don't want to answer them, I understand. Just tell me to buzz off.

Being that Dad is a traveler, it makes sence that his brother takes care of his finances...........My Sis-in-law does the same for us.

Cynthia, you really did come to the right place, I've never seen such a network as Nomads that gets things done so quickly. Good, luck to you and give Dad a good scholding when you find hime about keeping in touch. Didn't he insist on that from you?
