Do they ask for tentative destinations when selling a policy? I think I would want to know where my client planned on driving if I were to underwrite them.

Bajageoff....Are you seeing this?

Dennis,

Thought I would give a bit of an update to Mat & Missy, we did speak to an immigration agent in TJ yesterday and was told that without a US Passport they would not be able to travel below San Quintin and neither of them had passports so if this information is true from the immigr. agt. then does that not narrow our search area to north of there?

Tim

Take this statement with a big grain of salt .... it is not always true.

It is, most normally, false.

As a rule, army checkpoints are only concerned with drug and weapons search. They wouldn't be checked for documentation until reaching Guerrero Negro and if immigration were closed they could easily drive all the way south to Cabo.

I just had an idea. Driving requires stops for gas. Nomads in Baja could get a copy of the missing persons flyer and stop in their local PEMEX stations and ask the workers if they have seen them. A red Miata in Baja is rare and would probably be remembered.

Well...there are a lot of "ifs." The biggest one so far is, "if they're even in Mexico."

So...a flyer with a picture of the car, or one similar, would help??

true

the thing that worries me the most is their jobs.......they don't sound the type to be irresponsible enough to walk away like that.

Not adding up

What puzzles me is that they would go to the trouble in crossing to purchase insurance, a responsible act, yet abandon their jobs and contact with family. Taken together, the two just don't add up.

Are you saying there isn't one? The car is the key to locating where they are, or were.

I completely agree with you. Something is way fishy. They simply didnt have to return to US to buy insurance or get cash. Maybe buying insuarance was a way of throwing their family off.

Sorry....Yes there is. I just saw it.

It looks like a toy in the photo. Has it been compressed?
Doug posted a picture of a same type vehicle and it looks longer. Page 4 in the "Missing Persons" thread.

Looks like ALL parties have been "found" and are O.K.

Now the questions really start.....WHY and HOW did this happen?

....for those of us who have just got to know.....:saint:

Costs me 450 bucks per year on my Jeep here with MAPFRE.
More than twice that for AAA stateside.
I'm just a happy, over-insured customer.

Glad the guys are safe. But, just to follow up on a previous post, I have a 1 year auto policy for Mexico. But it states very clearly that the policy is only for Baja Norte. So, yes, the policies can be restrictive in a sense.

Dennis (or anybody else)..... no problem......I think most people tend to write as if we are talking to someone....and written words often come out "different" than if they were spoken.;)

I am very glad these kids showed up .... and I bet they had no idea they were being looked for in so many different locations but ..... they did NOT have their car (as I understand it) and that is what many of us had in mind, rather than their faces. Most amazing that they ended up precisely in the one town (CC) that none of us live in. Hopefully they are on a bus as we speak, heading towards el norte with passport in hand and relief in their hearts and remorse in their souls.
