Thought I'd take the bait, DT.

DK said- "You see it is not the organization at issue with me, it is their changing a long running public forum to a secret site. Do they really need non-pilots' money to stay afloat? How does Doug keep Nomad alive without charging everyone who wants to look here. Would there be as many Nomads if it was $49???"

Far as I can recall, the BBP website is advertiser-free. Does DK think that Doug has ads on this site as a charitable endeavor?

And if access to the BBP forums were still free it would encourage more people to pony up the $49 to join the club. One thing you've got to say about Jack, he sure aint much of a business man:lol::lol::lol::lol:

DK says:
"They had restricted posting by non-members, but allowed viewing... which can only help membership... Oh well..".

Maybe someone will let Jack know about the potential income stream that he's missing out on.....dt

DK - i have always liked and enjoyed your enthusiasm for baja.

but you have zero common sense when it comes to application of process whenever fantod and kith become your driving force.

well.....i am not going to clutter the Campo Rene thread when fun can be had here!!

quotes from DK....

"When BBP forums (called the 'bulletin board') were public, it gave them great exposure to potential new members and also created good interaction with non-pilot Baja travelers. When a plane went missing, non-pilots here on Nomad or Amigos got involved, too."

big deal, where is some empirical evidence that such a claim has foundation?

"Look how much you enjoy Baja Nomad... it provides fantastic services to Baja travelers and residents... it is worth $49/ year... Perhaps we should kick in for what we get here?"

your opinion maybe - if this forum cost money i would not participate, sorry but it does not provide me a service i can quantify in measurable exchange...

"You see it is not the organization at issue with me, it is their changing a long running public forum to a secret site. Do they really need non-pilots' money to stay afloat? How does Doug keep Nomad alive without charging everyone who wants to look here. Would there be as many Nomads if it was $49???"

huh?? Secret? watch out for the brain police, David...they are out there watching you...in the meantime don't worry about how an independent businessman wants to run his show. How Doug Means floats this adventure is not germain to what BBP jefe does.

"Try and seperate the Internet forum issue I have, with the BBP club membership... I have no problem with any club. I was a fan of Arnold Senterfitt's work, have exchanged letters with him so I was just wishing to continue to follow pilots airports of Baja happenings, as I had for 10 years. "

It isn't a club mang...it is a gang. And the principals are not concerned a bit with what you have to say. Your zetetic protests are rooted in impedementa. Let it go DK and do what you do best - talk about baja road trips.
besides, we do talk about you over there all the time and are simply waiting for you to come see.....after we get your $49!! hahaha..:lol::lol:relax buddy we luv ya! But on this one you are all wet.

what would we do without DK to entertain us?

this thread would be much better if you could get DK to talk about how liberals in BBP management are preventing free speech on BBP, or petrol consumption of private aviation is wasteful and a primary contributor of green house gasses that are destroying our climate,... and does someone sell a kit to attach wings and propeler to a toyota tacoma?

What none of you seem to see in what I am about here... is more Baja information for Baja enthusiasts... I am a not one who is into 'special people get special things'. Loving Baja is a special enough thing... I don't think paying $49 just to READ a forum is very amigo-like. As you have not understood... I am NOT opposed to joining a club or paying to post on BBP... but only disappointed that we cannot read BBP forums as we can read Nomad, without joining.

Why is that so hard to understand... or is this more about finding something to jump me for? LOL

David... are you saying that threads cannot be deverse or be bumped with fresh replies?

I made a small comment about how THEY (BBP) changed their forums and Capt. Mike and now you just can't get over it... please do, I like the McCormick's and have exchanged emails with them. If opinions were no longer allowed here, then the number of posts would drop 90%!

I have deleted ALL my replies on the Campo Rene thread. In the name of ending the drama, would all of you (who had far, far more words posted that were not on topic, remove yours?

Have a nice day!

Actually DK if you look back at what and how you said you would see that someone asked what BBP was and the question was answered. It was after that that you felt the need to make a disparaging remark about the BBP. It had nothing to do with the topic and added no value to the discussion. What it was was another cheap shot at the BBP from you and I took offense to it.

I appreciate your dedication to all things Baja but I don't appreciate your apparent need to complain about the policies of an organization that I am proud to be a member of. Insinuating that the BBP is somehow not "amigo-like" as you put it is a joke. Go tell the people of Mulege or Alamos or any other town that has suffered a catastrophic event that the BBP isn't very "amigo-like", be ready to run when you do.

I don't recall ever jumping you for anything in the past DK and I don't consider this jumping on you now. You've talked this same cr@p about the BBP before and I let it go but this time I chose to make my feelings about it known, that's all. There was no "bust DK's chops" intent.

I'd offer to pay the $49 for you so that you could peruse the BBP boards but that wouldn't change the fact that the BBP and their membership are a bunch of elitist special people getting special things thumbing their noses at the rest of the world so I won't.......dt

Qualify as a Baja Bush Pilot if you've spent enough hours navigating the bars on Avenida Revolucion ?

fer Gawd's sakes DON"T do it, dt!:(

that's the last thing we need in our super secret elitest group of thumb nosing pilotos...

BBP is a CLUB. you have to JOIN and PAY. It is not a public service technically although they DO have some info available to all on a website which may be of interest to current and aspiring Mexico adventure pilots based in USA - perhaps spurring them to join and HELP support the financial commitment necessary for its lobby efforts in Mexico City which costs a few pesos to run every year.

there is a MEMBERS ONLY forum to interchange ideas and comments pertaining to private flight in Mexico states. (We also talk about David K a lot there :saint:;D)
try sending (read SPENDING$$$) 3-4 staffers to Mexico city for 2-3 days AFTER you have gotten appointments to see top aviation and immigration and customs dignitaries - yes 3 totally independent departments in their hierarchy with which the BBP has to do biz with annually, sometimes more than once a year especially after an election when/if you lose your conacts - and see what that costs with airfare, hotels and meals etc. Does Nomads admin have that expense??

you do not have to be a pilot to be a member. Many members and contributors are not pilots. they simply enjoy aviation for whatever reason and maybe like baja or mexico events involving aviation.
they pay the same $49 the pilots and GA owner/operators do.

it's private. But it is not esclusionary. it is more like the Elks or Eagles or Rotary except you can't buy a one day pass so you can drink in an out of town bar whilst traveling in a state that doesn't have liquor by the drink....:P

"Praise BBP" would probably be a better title for this thread. Any one that has heard, read or seen the good work they have done and do knows it is a real deal to help the travelers and people of Baja and beyond. I'm not a member, yet, but it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to donate the $49 bucks just to help out their agenda. I look forward to reading some of the BN reports from BBP. Here's their welcome page. http://www.bajabushpilots.com/

Mike, my car broke down one time in a town by the name of Impedimenta. I was so mad I became fantod -- I had no kith around anywhere and then I got real zetetic. I fell in with some pedants and got run out of town. Sheesh! Now I think I'll invest the $50, see if the pilots will let me read, learn their fancy language.

Still not getting it... I think BBP is a GREAT and helpful club. (period)

NO LONGER allowing anyone to READ their forums is the ONLY thing I disagree with and think is 'un-amigo-like'.

They once did... and if you go back farther, they even allowed non-members to post on their forum. Viewing is good enough.

I think your feelings on this would be the same should Doug make Nomad a forum that pilots can no longer read, without a fee...

"Let the people read"! :rolleyes::lol:

Sorry Jorge, it doesn't work like that any more. Back when the BBP was more "amigo-like" maybe, but no more. Now you have to go before the review board to demonstrate that you are indeed a snob and truly elite. Then you have to demonstrate the secret hand shake and successfully pass the "acronym test".......oh, and you need $49

I'd be happy to give you a "test prep" course but I think it would be a waste of time, you're not snobbish enough and I know you don't have $49....:lol::lol:.....dt

No DK, you're not getting it.

When someone asked what BBP meant you posted a negative reply about them. You didn't mention anything good about them just something negative. If I didn't know anything about the BBP I would have come away thinking that they were a bunch of jerks. You've done that in the past, I chose not to ignore it this time.

That's the point.......dt
