Hi Folks,
What happened to them was what has probably happened to countless people before them. They tried to go off-road in her little sports car, broke down
with a flat tire and something else wrong with the wheel and with little water or food tried to walk towards where they thought the ocean might be and
got lost. After several days of wandering they were found by some rancher who kindly took them to his ranch, washed their clothes, fed them, got them
cleaned up and a place to sleep and eventually the man's son's rove them 3 hours to Constitucion.
Of course why they did any of this in the first place was foolish and although I can't speak for Mat's family, Missy got the riot act from the "old
man". We finally picked them up at the border late saturday afternoon and they are both well and safe.
Thank you all so very much for everything you did, it really meant the world to all of us and we are forever in your debt.

oh my gosh .............. that is definitely a nightmare .... to be in the desert without water ???? wandering lost and no one knows you are even
there .... this could have ended up worse than I even care to think about .....
So so so lucky they found someone ....
and thanks very much for sharing. This one will go down as a story to tell to all our kids and grandkids. I am relieved they are safe  ))))))

I can't tell you how lucky we feel that they were found. At least I know my worries were justified as goofy as that sounds.

Unfortunately, the only stories about Baja in the press these days are about violence and crime,
too bad that more people don't get to hear about the kindness of strangers that occurs so often. I'm glad that everything worked out for them.

They are very lucky...unlike the Italian bicyclist near Catavina. I wonder where they had their break down? Were they able to rescue the Miata?
Will they ever return to Baja?

So very happy they were found and are OK!!!
And it really is another example of what the majority of people in Baja are like----Sounds like that rancher took real good care of them. He probably
shared everything he had with them and for sure saved thier lives by just finding them!
While there is no way this rancher would expect anything for what he did, it would be wonderful if sometime in the future, something nice could be
done for him.
I am sure the families are celebrating and I doubt there ever will be anymore offroad sport car driving. Difficult to remain angry with young people
who do a "stupid" thing---
I hope they will return to Baja.

No doubt that I will tell everyone about the kindness they experienced, and yes if I could ever find this man I would certainly thank him in some
meaningful way for his generosity.

if the kids have a name and a location, I am sure we can track him down and personally thank him for his kindness ... he can become another Baja
legend - esp the son driving 3 hours to take them to Constitucion ....THAT IS NOTHING SHORT OF AMAZING.

I don't agree with that, Dennis. But even if you are correct, the important thing to us is that they are home safely and that Tim, the father,
reported it back to us.
If there is more to the story, that is their family business. We, and especially you, were willing to help them. It all ended well. That is all we can
expect, and it is good news.

I have seen people with very very little offer food, clothing, help and what they could to comfort others in need. Unfortunately these stories are not
told often enough. Most "Angels of Mercy" do not want anything in return but a thankful smile and words of thank you also are great! Forget about who
did not get what part of the story they wanted here, just forcus as hopefully others will that someone thought of someone other than themselves and
HELPED!!! It also was great to see others from this site ready to offer whatever they could or had the ability to assist do so or volunteer to do so.
