I use dollars all the time at Pemex... How were you ripped off? Details do help others to prevent it happening to them, and if it was done on purpose instead of an honest mistake, Nomads will avoid that station.

Since you say southbound i assume that is the one on the west side of the road, is it the one when you really start to get into town? And yes, what are the details I'll be geaded that way soon.

Dang, I wanna know where you get gas!! Don't most Volvo's have 15 gallon gas tank? That would mean at $25 per fill up, you're only paying $1.67 a gallon.

Anyways, $35 for a fill up doesn't seem high at all to me. I have a 15 gallon as well, and its usually more around $45-$55.

Do you know there are fees involved with credit?
You were declined by mastercard?
You were going to assult the worker?
No pesos?

So let me get this right. Someone who makes $95 per hour is having a conniption over having to deal with a 10-1 exchange rate for a tank of gas. Seems to me that he "fleeced" you for about $3. Maybe we ought to declare war on Mexico.

Well, I guess that settles it, I won't be buying gas with dollars any more.....oh, wait, I haven't bought gas with dollars in over 10 years.......never mind.....

Come to think of it, I've never bought gas in the states with pesos. I think next time I gas up in San Diego I'll give them a hand full of pesos and then get peeed off at them when they don't take them.....maybe I'll smack them if they pee me off......dt

Wow... what is the official rate... 12 or 12.50 and you got stuck paying 10 to one... because you are using foreign money?

I don't think that is being ripped off, unles the posted rate is different. The owner has to covert your money to his, and banks are less inclined to take dollars lately. The U.S. is in the crapper, afterall.

What is 2 pesos less, 16 cents?

There are gas stations right here in California that range to over 25 cents a gallon difference... in the same town!

Just so you have a better time in Baja... ask or look at the posted exchange rate at the station BEFORE paying in dollars. If you only have dollars, and were out of gas... be happy you were not stuck there and could buy some! ;)

It's price gouging and you know it. If a service station puts up a sign saying three to one, does that make it OK??
No way. Drivers don't go into gas stations looking for bargains or clean rsetrooms. They most often go in because they need to buy gas. They have no choice.
The posted sign isn't the arbiter of right and wrong. It only reflects the fairness or greed with which the owner put it up.
