Hi Paul
I know he was here in Plaza del Mar in the section over from Pyramid Resort. I did personally talk to the Dr that had the clinic he was in.
Conflicting stories as whether he died here or not. I did find out he was a racer in the baja 1000. He loved it. I have heard a rumor that Jim
Morrison of The Doors used to write some of his songs up on the pyramid here at the resort. Thats all I know. k

Steve Mc Queen was at the Plaza del Mar for cancer treatments for some time. He left and I believe did a stay at La Gloria's, just south of TJ on the
free road, where they were also running an experimental cancer treatment center. I forgot where he last received treatment but as we all know it was
to no avail.
Shortly after he left Plaza del Mar (now people call it the Pyramid) the Fed's closed it down. I know because I tried to get in and a young Mexican
Marine said "No", twice before he stuck a cannon--really an AR-15--but it did look like a cannonin my face. Gracias! and I was out of there and not
to return for about 20 years.

I remember that he finally tried treatment in the mainland someplace. Plaza del Mar was called Plaza Santa Maria back then.
Steve McQueen was featured in the old motorcycle sports movie, 'On Any Sunday' along with Malcolm Smith... my favorite part was the scenes from the
old Mexican 1000 (Baja 1000) race. I think I will rent that tonight!
