warnings on cigarette packs

Not only has the price of cigarettes gone way up but the warning panels should be enough to make me stop.

Nobody reads what they don't want to see. The government and the Cig companys know this.

It might prevent lawsuits. "I'd hereby file suit against Philip Morris because their evil cigarettes gave me bad breath which negatively affected my sex life."

Your right, no one who smokes, cares. The warnings and pictures are P.R. stunts by gov. and manufacturers to make people who don't smoke think that they are doing something to stop tobacco smoking.

Price?

What did the latest pack cost you?

How about this? Considering that an additional tax was added earlier this year, in New York City, a pack of cigarettes costs on average, $11!

Can I bum one?

I've often wondered how many people move to Baja for cheap cigarettes and bars that tolerate smokers.

The cost of cigarettes is the #1 reason people quit. Not health warnings.

Folks would be better off if they took those warnings seriously.

And IF they Don't ......... WHO Cares ?

There are more than enough warnings regarding EVERYTHING that "might" affect your Health. Doesn't stop the Social-Engineering people, though, from wanting to control our lives down to the Salt, Sugar and all else.

Those who make the "Choices" should bear the responsibility for their actions ALONE.

All of this ADDICTION Crap is Just That. When I decided to quit, I quit. Period. In the 43 years since, I've smoked less than a dozen cigarettes and never felt the urge to go back.

NOW, Cigars are a different story. Still savor one of those once in awhile.

Once a month or so.

I still buy Cigarettes, though, to hand out to the Campo Workers. They know they can always count on me for a pack of Marlboros which are now expensive even in San Felipe. I tried switching to "Boots", but it disappointed the workers so it's back to the Marlboros.

"Those who make the "Choices" should bear the responsibility for their actions ALONE." I totally agree, except in our society people with healthy lifestyles pay for the unhealthy choices of others in the form of higher insurance premiums and health care costs.

I've often wondered how many people move here because they can't get a driver's license in the states because they had too many DUI's.

I am with Mr. Bill on this one------------12 years ago I suddenly decided to quit smoking after 45 years-----once you make that decision it is easy (for me, anyway). Went from a pack a day, to none, in one day. Never looked back---never had another one. It is the "decision" that makes the difference. After I quit my nose ran badly for 3 weeks, and I felt like I had a cold, but that was it--------3 weeks max. of discomfort, then nothing.

I quit because I was coughing too much, and it made me nervous. I don't cough anymore, so must have been the right decision. :light:

33 years of smoking.
Took me 8 long years to quit.

Started when I was 12. Hardly a "choice" being a child under peer pressure and the "cool" Cowboy ads on Tv.

Choices are made by adults, not children.
