New to the forum

Hey all I am new to the forum. Have a sprinter van setup with WVO and bunks, XR600R dual-sport motorcycle, and a 18 Avon RIB with 90 HP on the back.

I have put a "to-do" to travel down to the Baja and do a vacation there next winter/spring. I am a big time laser sailboat racer so thinking I could combine this with doing a weekend regatta in San Diego.

If I head into mexico with the my sprinter and boat, can you just launch any were down on the Baja? Are there central locations that have boat ramps to go fishing?

All my stories & adventures are posting on my personal website:

Sail Smart, Sail Hard, Then think about Sailing Fast !!!!!

Someday I will sell everything, invest in a 50ft sailboat, then turn left at the Columbia River Bar .

Welcome to the board Mack. Try going to the Vagabundos del Mar web site and look into purchasing the booklet on launch ramps in baja listed in the "store" - it's a short but informative book.

Two dirt roads diverged in Baja and I, I took the one less graveled by......

Mack......Launch ramps on the Baja peninsula are few and far between. A good investment would be Zack Thomas' "The Angler's Guide to Trailer-Boating Baja" (2008). Zack describes the whys and wherefores of trailer-boating Baja as exhaustively as it has been done, including a description of 30 launch ramps on both coasts. The book is also packed with practical advice and information on travel south of the border. Before I settled in Loreto I traveled up and down Baja towing an 18' glass boat. I launched over the sand as often as on ramps, and you should be able to do the same with your 18 footer.

welcome to the world of Baja Nomads .... stop by and visit us too - 600 miles south of San Diego, straight shot ! La Bocana is the name of our village and we are quite remote - quiet - beautifully cool all summer (mostly). My husband Les and I run a B & B and we would love to meet you ! Donate a bike or surfboard or some skateboards to the local sports club and get a free night with us :light:
Safe and Happy travels !!

Soon to be a kite boarder

By the time I get down there in the WVO powered sprinter van I will hopefully be an accomplished kite boarder. I think kite boarding would be the perfect compliment to my WVO powered van and XR600R dual sport motorcycle.

Looking forward to a killer time next winter.

If you have a vegetable powered Sprinter how do you obtain fuel in your travels, does it also use diesel :?:

Welcome to Nomads mack. They don't call the east cape the wind surfing capitol of the world for nothing. If you are into that stuff you will be in the right place. Not a bad place for off road riding either, pretty good fishing hole to boot. If you get as far as Los Barriles look me up and we will have a beer and maybe a trail ride (don't kite board yet). You will need to stop referring to it as "the" Baja though or other Nomads will make fun of you.......heck, we will probably make fun of you anyway:lol::lol::lol:...dt
