Serenidad

With the election happing this weekend, I was hoping to stop in for the Saturday night "Pig Roast"..
Diana confirmed they will be allowed to sell alcohol to their guests..
Just hope the winds come down..

Some recent Serinadad photos for you, La Tijereta.

I took these at the Serinadad in Nov and Dec, 2010. (Except for one really old one..)

Alex! Where the heck are you? I'm so dry, I'm a fire hazard...

Nicely appointed, the Serinadad changes it decor almost yearly. Here Don is guiding some visitors around his legendary resort.

This one below has Don Johnson's back next to the fireplace. I wanted to stage a certain photo scene and he was helping to arrange the set.

This one is the reason...a 'before and after photo'....A photo of the fireplace and us back in 1976. Wow..long hair and some crazy shirt, eh? I remember asking my blonde date how tall she was..she had a cute answer..."I'm 5'12"

Enjoy the Saturday Pig Roast...may see you there.

Roger, your great photos brought back some pleasant memories. But, I have to report when last we stayed there, a couple of years ago, despite the beautiful, warm and inviting public spaces, the hotel rooms were quite long in the tooth.

Roger.. Looks like you need to update your images to show some guests enjoying a "nice roast pork" dinner:light:

I have always enjoyed the the Serenidad decor and patio area... May get a chance to enjoy that fireplace if stays cool Saturday night..

There are exceptions in Baja if they can show a loss of business or something like that. The law was changed in the past couple of years.

Being from south of the Mason-Dixon line, I appreciate good BBQ. Nothing beats a plate full of BBQ'ed pork except a bigger plate of BBQ'ed pork. Have put more than one "pig in the ground".

Michael - last year and several others when i was at mi palapa Diana told us she had a "pass" and we could be served IF we were guests - some loop hole because she ran a hotel - and also something about it only applied for non mexican citizenry.

seemed reasonable since tourism needs support and as non voters we had no impact on the outcome.

but yeah....it's mexico - who really knows the rules??

La Tijereta..unfortunately, I haven't gone to a pork feed at Don's for a while..been gone or otherwise occupied. The photos are very recent, though (except for the fireplace foursome..that's pretty dated.) The Sat. nite pig feed is not as popular as it once was years ago...competition, weather, economy, changes in attitudes and latitudes, etc. hopefully, this will turn around for the old gal.

Alex...The Mesquite Bar is not open at this time. Alejendro/Alex may be waiting for global warming, more tourists, manna from heaven, who knows. Sitting in a cold, empty bar staring at the tv can't be much fun.

Long in the tooth rooms? Not really, they will do quite well compared to lots of other places. Hell, they're over a half-century old and the Johnson's have had to fight many battles to stay afloat. I know a little about huge expenses refitting/furbishing compounds and multiple rooms. Be glad they are open at all..sheesh. This fly-in resort is a true Baja legend and would be sorely missed by Baja lovers.

bajalera...I have a very good memory so I can say with certainty: I may have known Dav Y Jones..maybe not. It all depends on which agency is looking.

Diver and marc..I don't have a clue as to what you mean...? You are obviously dillusional.

Elections and drinking....Our Super Bowl party today will be WET..as usual.
My coffin cooler is stocked/iced daily. I really don't care if alchole..alchahole..alhcohel....booze is served anywhere or not.
