BB guns in Baja

In the light that they are legal in Baja, I just happened upon a BB pistol on sale at Big 5 a Smith and Wesson gas powered 19 shot semi auto for $39. I had to buy it just to see, 480fps, wow this would totally stop most intruders animals etc. Shot right through a 1/4" thick catalog. Just a thought, plus it's fun to shoot.

Hola 805gregg,

i have friends in the east cape that have pellet guns that i have understood to believe 177 and possibly 22 calibers are legal to posess and shoot.

i have a 22 caliber beeman but it's on the noisy side so i don't shoot it in l.a.

however, i do also have a daisy bb gun that's powerful enough but doesn't do a lot of harm to intruding animals but gives them a pretty good sting and keeps them out of my yard.

i got one of them, they look real in the dark. i don't think a tweeker would be detered, but 19 bb's in the face/neck/chest to a mere mortal would give you a chance at 25 feet. and by chance i mean "the chance to kick his nalga while he was cowering on the ground wondering WTF just hit him, before you REALLY did!"

I believe it has to be less than .22 caliber.

And while someone you shoot can very well die eventually without medical attention (usually when their abdominal cavity is puncture by the tiny projectiles coming out of the new high velocity guns), he is gonna be really mad for the next couple of hours and not really incapacitated.

The ER doctors hate the new guns.... little tiny holes and kids too embarrassed to tell why they arent feeling so well.

so the ER docs would rather see gaping wounds?

and the punks? well, who gives a crap what they think as long as they "think"?

If it means they can find and control the problem faster, yes they would be rather be able to see big gaping wounds.

Im guessing you have never been shot by a air gun. While it might shoot your eye out it wont stop anybody.

There is a huge difference between something eventually lethal, and instantaneous stopping force.

the one I carried on my trip was a Daisy pump. 750 fps and you can buy pointed gold plated 177 ammo that increases it to 1000 fps. Never met an animal that didn't respect the sting it gave. Although I never used on a human.
Army checked it many times and had no problem with it. Don-Kay finally stepped on it and and it wasn't much good anymore.

the planned line of defense is a mid-chest TASER shot followed by a roll into the pool. Ooops- must have slipped. :saint:

["Don-Kay finally stepped on it and and it wasn't much good anymore."]

Maybe Don-Kay thought you might use it on him and decided to make sure you didn't.

Another reason they hate that type of wound, especially ice-pick wounds, is they have to cut the victim wide open to clean them. I heard that somewhere.

As for pellet guns....Cabela's sells one, a rifle type, that travels 1600 FPS. That is one badass pellet.

Bajaguy, forgive my ignorance, but how do you use a green laser for self defense? Shine it in the asailant's eyes? If so, what is the immediate effect?

Dennis, do you know what the model is for the 1600 fps rifle you mentioned at Cabela's?

fella's

if "they" come at me or mine i will put at least 10 of 19 in their face, for starters.

that gives me enough time to collect my wits and grab my "tool", ahem, MACHETE and go Bruce Lee on their assess.

at that time, if they are still in standing, i have a green laser that i will happily pry open their eyes and experiment, Neptune willing!

UNLESS they pull a 9mm. then i will post a trip report.

you all can pick apart my response, how it is not a good self defense strategy. do what you will but don't get in my range. if you do, post a trip report.....

Right off hand, Mitch, no I don't, but you can find it. Just go to Cabela's and start looking through the pellet rifles. They all give the FPS.

Or....I haven't tried this, but Google 1600 feet per second pellet rifles...buy.

Thanks, Dennis, there is alot of material out there on the web. I want a pistol at 0.177 that can shoot at least six pellets or BBs rapid fire and has more than 900 fps capacity. I want one.

BB and pellet combo...cheap, simple, pump..find lots on Craigslist for $75 or less.

Little more power and cost..Gama 'Hunter' model w/variable scope...high velocity. $$$ But not for stopping a human..never. Get yourself a street-sweeper for that...12ga. 00 buck ...but it'll be real messy to clean up.

Use hunting points...good to go for quail, rabbits, doves, mapache
