Last year we were coming back from visiting friends in Rancho Pakard crossing at San Ysidro. At the border the agent asked the usual questions. Are
you bringing anything back? Yep, a dozen tamales and a 12 pack of cold beer. She took a quick look through the open window into the back seat and
said "OK you can go but the ice chest has to stay here." A little confused I said alright. Wait, what? why the ice chest? With out cracking a smile
she said "That's where the beer is, right?" Then she gave us a big smile and waved us on.

I'm not going to argue when everything I have said is taken out of context and flipped all to hell. You can judge me however you wish.

bajafam, DO NOT GIVE UP!
This thread is an example of a paradigm that occurs on the Baja Nomad boards.
The back-and-forth helps keeps people interested and riveted to their keyboards.
Please, don't take it personally; you are a valuable Nomad and we don't want to lose you.

I'm sorry, Gypsy Jan ~ I won't tolerate cyber bullying from DENNIS for the sake of everyone else's entertainment. I'm not going anywhere, I just won't
feed his fire in this particular thread, especially when it has gone so far from it's original topic.
DENNIS ~ my dear sir. You lost me at "sweetie". If you would care to continue to have a battle of the wits, at least refrain from patronizing me. I'm
sure if our paths cross we will chuckle about it over a cerveza...but I have my doubts. You have already cast your judgment that I'm a silly little
girl with my panties in a wad. However, what you don't know is that my passion for Baja runs deep and neither you nor a negative comment from a random
CBP will keep me away from the places that I love. If you care to fight like a girl with me, please take note that I carry a machete under my seat at
all times, whether in the states or in Mexico....
Peace out.

BajaFam, How can we "coexist" with you wielding that machete? Your posts come across as arrogant and your belittling of the States puts you right
there with obama. Yeah, Go ahead and tell me you don't support that idiot.

Well, this certainly turned into a train-wreck. Huh, I just came across a lovely anti-Canadian (anti-Canuck) thread: http://forums.bajanomad.com/viewthread.php?tid=50447#pid5859... . Points on all sides but no need for confrontation.
Crossing the border is part of life here. I've had a border guard drop my digital camera and then laugh when it fell apart when he picked it up. The
border guards have a tough job. Then-again, there's no need to bash Mexico at the US-Mexico border. I don't think bashing Canada at the northern
border would fly.
It would be nice if we all got along.

Shucks, I'd never ask an employee of the California DMV when to change oil in a car, an employee of the California Air Resources Board what's the best
barbecue lighter fluid, or a member of the Internal Revenue Service what's the surest stock to invest in.
CBP employees are trained and paid to restrict the undocumented, and listed prohibited items from entering the United States. It is their total, full
and complete job description.

I loved that movie! Is collecting rocks permitted in Baja? This used to be my "long, long trailer" until a year ago.

It certainly got looks from the border guards and quite unintentionally was red, white and blue. I was always afraid they'd want to dismantle it at
the border as it'd never go back together.

WOW...Too cool. Yeah....I'm glad they didn't tear it apart in secondary. That would have been a shame. Thanks.

As long as they don't contain any fossils (or soil)... I used to bring pretty granite boulders ( 1-2 ft. diameter) north (from below Guadalupe Canyon)
to decorate a friend's yard with... about 8-10 years ago. Smaller rocks, onyx, sulfur ore, copper ore (magic rocks) are all here at Casa de David K y
Baja Angel.
