What Time to leave San Felipe on Easter Sunday
So every year for Easter we have left on Sat to beat the traffic.
Any ideas the best time to leave if we go back on Sunday?
7am or later in the afternoon?
Any suggestions would be appreciated

Had a 3.5 hour wait LAST Sunday at Algodones, 2:30-6:00, (busiest time). And the snowbirds are gone, no pedestrian line at all.

A number of years ago I left at 6 am and there was very little traffic on the highway. Saw more police than other cars.
We left about eleven yesterday and still had to wait 20 minutes at the military check point. I think it will be a BIG delay on sunday.

Oh Gods! It's one bad nightmare to leave on Sunday.
I got "smart" one Easter weekend....I was packed and readied to go......got up at 3 a.m. .........blasted down that highway.....and was shocked to see
traffic! Yes...it was Hell trying to get out.
I suggest you leave noon'ish Saturday and then make a shorty trip en route to home
Old people are like the old cars, made of some tough stuff. May show a little rust, but good as gold on the inside.

At 3 am you have the people who did not even go to bed and were still partying.
You made the mistake of going to bed

We left one Easter Sunday at 5:30 and while there was some traffic it wasn't really that bad. I think leaving later in the day would be more crowed as
those who were partying on Sat. night will be up, hung over and on the road.
Whenever I hear that rainy, chill wind blow. I think it may be time to head for Mexico. Tengo que obedecer mi corazon!

First of all, gas up on Sat. morning at the very latest -- we now have 5 gas stations, but their are incredible long lines - maybe an hour wait and
even longer on Sunday when they sometimes run out of gas.
Just leave as early as you can on Sunday -- hopefully everyone going back will head off for Ensenada, or stop in Mexicali and you only have to deal
with those crossing into the U.S.

I crossed in San Ysidro a few years ago on Easter and at 7am it was a very short line. Today I checked the time and the wait at 7am was 20 minutes at
SY (Good Friday). I really think Easter morning early will be easy, just like all holiday mornings.
