tv tuned on to the wedding ?

Just wondering, did you tune in to watch the royal wedding today ?

I thoroughly enjoyed watching it - but i am a hopeless romantic !! and my husband is a naturalized Brit, so it is closer to home for me.

This thing will go on longer than Kennedy's funeral. Of course, they could break the monotony with a few web-cams in the royal bedroom. :saint:

I was up until 4:30 this morning watching. I watched HRH Prince Charles & (she will always be HRH to me) Princess Diana, the day they brought the boys home from the hospital, the death & funeral of (HRH) Princess Diana and I am so pleased to see her sons carrying on as she would have. I know that some may think it is silly, but I feel as though they are part of the extended family. I look forward to seeing the to the next generation of Royals and to HRH Prince Harry finding his match. I was so very impressed with how calm and serene HRH Prince William and HRH Princess Katherine appeared and how the love they feel for each other shined through.

I did think that Victoria "Posh" Beckham could put a smile on her face and show some happiness towards the occaision. Too bad for her!

I wonder if HRH Prince Charles will ever become King or will abdicate......the British people seem to have changed how they feel about ( I can't bring myself to use her title, I am sorry if I offend)Camilla and that mess. I believe that HRH Prince William would better serve as King and will move the British into a new era.

Old people are like the old cars, made of some tough stuff. May show a little rust, but good as gold on the inside.

Yes, I Watched

Woke up and turned on the TV just as they were finishing their vows and stayed up for all the show after including Wills and Kate driving off in Da's Aston Martin convertible with the "Just Wed" sign that Harry had fixed on the boot.

Meh.

I actually got a kck out of a bit on the Daily Show last night. Correspondent John Oliver (a Brit) did a bunch of man on the street interviews that purported to show that by and large, the Brits are totally over this monarchy thing. Biggest complaint was that given the wars being fought and that were draining treasuries, and the overall dismal state of the economy that has prompted austerity measures in Britain, the amount of money spent for this spectacle, which fundamentally comes from British taxpayers, was appallingly inappropriate.

And then there's this thing about the British royal family actually being Germans!

Everyday.

Or is "their" history somehow more important than the day to day life of us lowly commoners? Maybe I am out of step but I just don't get myself all worked up over this stuff. Much more pressing matters that we should be concerned with today, to say nothing of a ridiculous use of taxpayers money in these difficult times when so many there are struggling to make ends meet.

I would have had more respect for them if they had eloped and got married in a Vegas wedding chapel.

But that's just me...
