MEXICAN DANCING IN LA BOCANA

tonight, there was a special celebration with middle school kids from all over baja sur - so many teens and some of them danced .... so here are some pics ... BTW: our house has been absolutely crazy with young boys and girls and quads zooming in and out of the yard, with teachers and directors busy planning events ...

but the dancing was amazing ... so I share:

Beautiful costumes, dresses, etc. And, what a nice special events room. Cinco de Mayo, no? Great way to develop character and confidence in kids. A++++ Tio

thanks for sharing Blanca...I think it is wonderful how the culture organizes performances from kindergarden on up as it teaches the kids to get over their fear of audiences. I find it fascinating how the hula dancing is so popular here too...seems strange but the kids love it.

things are real busy here too in Asuncion with the state championship little league baseball playoffs here this weekend wth teams from La Paz, constitucion, Loreto, Todos Santos & tortugas...lots of kids throwing balls around and the sound of bats cracking everywhere...bound to be some broken windows as we donated some rental houses to the visiting teams!

Love the hula dancers!

My girls have been taking hula lessons this year (along with their ballet, tap, and jazz). Their big show is at the Del Mar Fair in June!

the big room is the salon social (town hall) and boy, the cop did a great job of renovating inside and out.

small town news - the local police sent everyone home at 10 pm formthe main square - kids and adults alike were told to head on home or else ...... be put in the local jail !!! I was so amazed .... but they turn off the square lights at 10 and the police did not want anyone out and about ...

our local contribution to the 2 day event was to put up 2 teen girls and a mom from isla san marcos. they fell in love with la bocana and did NOT want to go home !! some of their friends had a quad and took them for a ride ... boys were driving past to get a glimpse of the girls - some things never change !!
