a heavenly day in la bocana

today has to go down as one of the most fun days I have ever had .....

first we drove to el cruzero restaurant and had a delicious breakfast. talked to armida and her son felipe about the donations and were just astounded to get 4 boxes of clothes and shoes and 4 fantastic brand new skateboards !!

[img][/img]

then i stayed there and cleaned up across the street while les went into vizcaino.

[img][/img]

I collected 2 full bags of trash and convinced 2 guys from punta abreojos to take the bags to abreojos for me ..

[img][/img]

then les picked me up and as soon as we got home, the kids started visiting. what we had agreed is that they would help me clean up around la bocana in order to be able to choose their freebees ... I have never had such eager helpers ....can we go now ??!!!! and trust me, we made a huge difference

[img][/img]

[img][/img]

and then the kids were ecstatic with all the goodies !!!! two angels helped out !!!! one a baja nomad and the other not !!

as you can surmise, I am exhausted but extremely grateful and happy and blessed .....

tomorrow there will be more kids and the story will be continued !!

it's the teacher in me .....

as we walk around cleaning, I talk to the kids about their future, I talk to them about doing homework and trying their best at school. I mostly talk to them about college and what they want to be in the future ....

these are dirt poor kids, for the most part, and no one ever talks about living the dream. I do.

and my passion is a clean village so, of course we talk about pollution.

today we collected tons more trash and I am beat ... I can hardly move after going out with 2 different groups - one in the morning and one in the afternoon !!

I think I recognize those decks!.... But Bigzaggin and I dropped them off in El Rosario in January!!! Glad they arrived, if a bit late - looks like we'll need to bring some trucks next time!
