Carmageddon July 15 to 18 applicable to baja-philes

Ya, it's sort of Baja related, if you travel thru the GREAT metropolis of LA to reach la baja.

My question: will I-5/101 route between say OC and Ventura be gridlock that weekend?? should i attempt it??

hola mtgoat666,

with 500,000 cars a day being rerouted. i don't think it's wise to be anywhere near any of the connecting freeways or major surface streets.

people are being advised to either take the days off or stay with someone to avoid the mayhem.

BIEN SALUD,

DA RAT

Should be called Karmageddon!

The 101 will be a klstrphk, the 5 likely also.

If you must, I'd do 118-210-57-71-55(or the toll road)-5
118-210-57-10-15 would also work. Depending where in Ventura you're at, you could also consider 126-5-210.

Your mileage may vary....

When transiting to or from Ventura/San Diego we use the 126-5-210-605-5 combo or keep heading east to 57 etc.

There is an app for that Sigalert.com

We will be heading south on the 15th from Yosemite. May have to comsider the Apple Valley backroad bypass 395/15.

I do think with ALL the news about this closure that many folks will stay off the roads, but you never know. Hope for the best and prepare for the worst? It's all part of the adventure, no?

This is getting sooooo much publicity, just like the 1984 olympics. They were predicting traffic of biblical proportions, ultimately people didn't drive and traffic was fine. I think the people of Los Angeles will be fine.:light::light:

The 1 will be jam packed - you can count on that. I live right in the middle of all this and I can promise you, the reason its getting crazy publicity is because its going to be a wreck.

on any given saturday the 405 is pretty much jammed between the 90 and the 101, and the 10 is pretty much congested both ways from the 405 to the 110. God help you if you have to get through LA that weekend. I'd sooner take a panga from Oxnard then try to get through.

"We will be heading south on the 15th from Yosemite. May have to comsider the Apple Valley backroad bypass 395/15."

That'd be my advice. I would be leery of the 210. Nothing going north or south inside of Mt Baldy is going escape impact.

Ivy at the Shore made the best margarita I have ever had in my entire life. Is that place still there?

I'd go 99 to Bakersfield and take 58 over to 395. Might even be faster to head over to 5 and down. Then hook up with 58.

When I head north from the desert I go 10-210-215-395-58 then hook up with 5.

Thanks for the tip. Will keep it in mind. Have never been that way and always fun to try new routes. Also looked at 99/5/138/215 might be less truck traffic? Between smartphone with Sigalert maps and KNX 1070 traffic reports on the 5's I hope to have it figured out by the time we hit Bakersfield/Grapevine. We will leave Merced at o'dark thirty Friday morning after a late dinner at the Awahnee Thursday night. Whatever the case we will roll with the punchs as it were.
