CONGRATULATIONS TO JAPAN

The World Cup belongs to Japan after beating the USA in the finals.
Hate to see the USA Team take the loss, but on the other hand, if it had to be someone else to emerge victorious, I'm glad it was Japan. They really needed something like this.

US missed 4-6 easy shots so it couldn't go to a country that needed an uplifting victory more.

What goes around comes around.
The US lucked out against Brazil and now lost a game they should have won.
Congrats to Japan.

Yes, the US beat Japan in every aspect other than the scoreboard (and the penalty kicks).

It's a strange game with low scores and often decided by lucky bounces and deflections. You have to be truly dominant to win with consistency. Kind of like hockey, actually (but at least you play a 7 game series).

Maybe karma is real. I was rooting for our team. But, given, as way too many people have little knowledge of, the nation of Japan sustained an historic tragedy, that can cause people to question their own identity... then kudos to them and their victory. They needed it. Way more than we did.

Uruguay should now be a shoe-in for the Copa America, with Brazil, Argentina and Columbia knocked out.

I totally agree with Dennis... hated to see the US go down in the finals, but for Japan... wow, what a boost for that country after all those people have been through! Kudos to Japan on their World Cup win! What a great victory for Japan!!!!!

It ALL works out

Big Shake, Big Wave, this and that.

Now, Big Soccer V.

Seems fair.

I'm sure they'll forget about all that other stuff now.

Props to Japan for surviving.....

I see your point, Frank, but it might be lethal to some of those kids. They all looked pretty tired.
I've often thought that instead of the PKs, they should thin out the teams on the field.........like take four players off each team and let them battle it out. That would thin out the mob at the net and scores would come quickly.

US got way too conservative at the end. Japan had lots of opportunities to score in the last 10mins.

It was like the old USA-Mexico games, we would play better, control the ball, but the US would score in a lonely counter and win.

PK sucks!!

When it went to penalty kicks I turned it off,
my wife told me how it came out.

NHL does penalty shots until the playoffs- then ya gotta win it for real, not by having a free throw contest....
ever see the faces of the guys in OT3!? Tired- you bet, but that is the point of the game IMO

NFL the same, no winner in regular season, O>K>
then in the playoffs, you gotta score to win.

Might as well call both captains to the center of the field and see which one can bounce the ball the longest off one foot- makes about as much sense....

This is a real good reason why soccer will never be big in the US. Gringos like winners.

PKs suck ?

But, then, so does Soccer.

The best way to make Soccer (more) interesting is to do away with the Goal-Keeper COMPLETELY.

Then, you'd see some SCORING.

Add timeouts for commercials and you've got a commercial success in the U.S.

THAT is the reason, why 90% of fans in games involving the US and Mexico in US soil, are Mexican.

LOL!!! futbol is the most popular, exciting, and most beautiful game of all. If most americans don't get it, i am sure the rest of the world is very fine with that. If your football was as great as you think it is, everybody would be playing it (off course they dont).
