Mucho Mangos
Loooong summer of mangos. First my trees, then the neighbor (who is in Montana -- those are the green machetes), then one of the bait guys dropped off
a nice bag of the big red Kens.
Months of breakfasts and gucci blender drinks coming up. I looove jello with mango slices in it. Coolest breakfast ever.

Just started harvesting the mangos off my tree in La Paz. The best mangos in the world. I did a count this morning; I have 62 mangos on the tree.
It's a relatively small tree. But the mangos are unbelievable. Makes the best mango margaritas in the world. By the time the tree stops fruiting for
the year, I usually have a freezer full of mango meat that lasts all the rest of the year.
I call Mango season harvesting and mango eating, "Mango Madness".

mangos and watermelon....everybody has a surplus and gives em away...so it's off to the cocina to whip up some mango margs for Miguelitro's birday

We will blend them up and filter into ice trays, freeze them into cubes. After the harvest is over pull a few out and add some club soda. Do the same
with melons. They are great in the hot afternoon.

I got a 3 ft Mango tree from a vivero in April and so far it's grown about 3". I perform frequent welfare checks on it and so far I haven't killed it
with kindness thank goodness. Maybe if I quit checking on it everyday it'll grow a little faster, but man it's a pokey grower.
I got a peach tree at the same time and trimmed it back severely per agi website instructions and the peach has still quadrupled in size.
At the rate the mango is going, I may see my first social security check before I see the first mango.

Neighbor has a huge tree, which produces all of July and part of August. I peel and slice them, put them in baggies and freeze them. They don't freeze
solid ( sugar ) and eat like ice cream. Delicious. I also slice up a few hundred and dry them in a dryer. Get kilos of dried mangoes that way, which
are great just eating out of hand or put in cakes, bread and pies. Still, hundreds are going to waste and no one seems to have any interest in them.
Too many around I presume. Loreto is full of mango trees.

I love mangoes and never ever thought of freezing or drying them ...

Very easy, I peel the mangos with a very sharp knife and slice big chunks off the seed. I put the meat into a sandwich baggy and wrap it tight to get
all the air out. Then I put all these small sandwich bag pouches into a bigger plastic bag that you get at the produce section in a grocery store,
put a twister tie on that after squeezing out all the air.
I still have some left over from last year, no freezer burn, they are perfect, it's amazing how well they keep their original bright yellow-orange
color.
Think that I will make some mango preserves by simply boiling the mango meat with some sugar. That seems to work for plumbs really well. Put some of
that on some vanilla ice cream and add some chocolate syrup and crushed walnuts and a few fresh slices of banana.
Oh, now I'm hungry.
